After a few days of research and growing tired of my Jack Black shave cream, I found a local store that carries a full line of the Gentlemens Refinery (http://www.thegr.com/) products in Surrey, BC. Product: The Standard Pre-Shave Oil Size: Travel 15mL Price: $12.50 (CAN) First Impressions: It's hard to describe the feeling you get when you know you've found something that fits your need exactly, that's the feeling I had when I tried a sample of TGR's pre-shave oil. I spoke with a rep of the company over the phone who was elated to find out that I was a fellow Canadian and lived withing a few miles of a local store that carries a full line of their products. They claim that their pre-shave oil is all natural and that, "it's so natural you can even drink it!" though I advise not to. Application: The Standard pre-shave oil comes in a simple clear pump bottle with black label that makes getting just the right amount of product easy and clean. As with any good shave, the lady at the pharmacy who sold this to me and TGR recommends applying the oil after a nice hot shower and on a clean dry face. Though I'm use to other products which require a wet application, the TGR went on smooth, wasn't greasy and didn't drip all over the counters. The Senses: The smells is unique but the predominant smells are citrus, aloe and hint of lavender. I think it's greant and the wife loves it! THE Shave Like a baby's bottom! The oil doesn't clog up my razor like other products have in the past and it doesn't leave your skin too shiny or feeling oily afterward. Cleans up nice and the smell isn't overwhelming. The Bottom Line: GO AND BUY A BOTTLE! At $12.50 you can't go wrong and even with 15mL it's enough to last you a while. You won't be disappointed!
Hmmm...sounds interesting. You've made some yourself I take it? If so, any suggestions on where to start?
I've never had much luck with pre-shave oils myself, but as JoAnna said, it looks easy enough to make your own from the ingredients list: 1. Sunflower oil 2. Jojoba oil 3. Lime essential oil 4. Chamomile 5. Vitamin E
