Cover shaving mug or not?

Kind of a "why ask?" sort of question, but I thought I'd see if anybody has any opinions. I have several pucks of soap opened at once, and keep them in separate shaving mugs. I've been covering the mugs when not in use, but was just wondering whether that's necessary, or even advisable. I was thinking it might actually be better for the soaps to dry out a bit when they aren't going to be used for a while. Not really sure what's more sanitary. Some soaps that I didn't like so much may go a long time between uses, and it can take a very long time to go through one puck, even if you use it every day.

What do you do, and what's your reasoning? If you haven't used a soap in a long time, do you do anything special like rinse it when you use it again?

I would use trial n error..make a big lather..anything thats leftover that can be used next shaving time..wait n see if it looks like it would be as if you first lathered

Each soap has its own container. Most are clear glass bowls, 3-for-a-buck at the dollar store.

I shave in the morning. When finished, I set the bowl under the counter to dry. In the evening I put the bowl into a ziplock sandwich bag and seal it. It goes into the linen closet where I get my next soap for the next day's shave. Each soap in its own bowl, each bowl in a ziplock sandwich bag. I have over two dozen soaps and they are all in the rotation. That means it will be a little better than three weeks before it comes up again. I don't want dust or lint getting into or onto the soap while it sits in the closet.

I only have shaving soaps that have their own container or tub and they all can be closed....

Oh no, there is one soap I have in the shaving mug that is placed into a zip-lock bag when finished :ashamed001

If it makes any difference closed or not, I cannot comment on.....
