    Hello all
Am new here and still exploring and learning about this wet shave stuff, I have been busy reading old posts and am now ready to ask questions from the more advanced users, I have already started gathering a few of these old razors and need to know what kind of blade do I get to fit a razor? I also have an old gem and a clix and was curious to know if blades are readily available for these razors? are there any razors to avoid because of blades not being available?

Blades for the Valet Auto-Strop are not readily available. Some people have custom trimmed some blades for them, I will let them chime in with the results.

Gem/ EverReady razors use a standard Single Edge blade that has a spine on the back, it looks identical to the kind of blade one uses for scraping paint off of glass. Don't use those blades, however, they would be much too dull for shaving!! The blades you want are made by Gem, and are available in the shaving isle at Wal-Greens.

Are blades available for the Clix razor?

Clix? :think002 :signs140 Hmm...Not sure what razor you are talking about here, I own several Clix brand D/E razors that just take standard D/E blades. Can you post or link to a picture?

Below is a video that Dave made showing how to modify a modern S/E blade to fit and work in an Auto-Strop, pay close attention to the model of razor that he says it will fit. If it is the Auto-Strop model that has a swing open door with the words Valet on it, it will not work.

Feather (yes that Feather) makes some blades with cutouts that will work in the swing open style razors, but they seem to only pop up occasionally, and I am not aware of a source to easily buy them.

If it looks like the one below, then yes sir, regular D/E blades fit.

After watching this video several times and studying picture of the Valet blades I am curious as to why you cant modify a blade for the one I have to make it work?

Good news about the Clix though as I can easily find blades for that. It is like the one at the bottom of the picture.

Is the Clix ez flo a mild or aggressive shaver?

Bummer no more. I am told, and am waiting for an order of Feather single edge blades. I'm told they fit with no modification needed. I ordered five for $4.50 from razerbladesandmore.com

    Sorry I'm a year late!
