The refill is cold process soap.

The glycerin round is just that, a glycerin soap, which is made by melt & pour.

They cost different cause they have different ingredients.

Based on the prices captianirish posted, I'm guessing he was looking at TSD Store. In the description of each of those soaps I describe the difference. :)

    They're just different soapmaking processes.

Some folks prefer cold processed shave soaps. Some prefer triple-milled. And some prefer glycerin. And yet, some prefer shaving cream.

do all the soaps require that same process to use?

Cold process soaps use a different method then MP soaps.

I guess I didn't make myself very clear...it is the same process to use; they are just made differently. :)

Yup, same process to use. Soak your brush in hot water, pick your soap you fancy that day. Get the brush and give it a little squeeze, want the brush fairly dry to start with. Load the brush with soap from the Puck, give it plenty ! Then whip your later up in a separate dish bowl shave mug etc. I use a heavy bottomed glass to whip my later up in so I can stand the glass in hot water to keep my lather warm. You will need to slowly add water to whip the lather up, a few drops to begin with maybe an odd drop as you go.
One more thing, if your face gets cold while doing this get it hot and wet again ! Do not shave a cold face with a straight ! There are some stickys to show how to do all this around here somewhere :) Please ask if your unsure at all.
