I recently purchased a bottle of 4711 cologne, because I saw it at Macy's and remembered my father always wore it. The second I smelled it, the childhood memories began to swirl. the problem is the scent fades after a couple of hours. I am wondering if I should buy the after shave also so the scent will be light, but present. Any thoughts?

I've found that the 4711 aftershave is rather short lived and the cologne stays a little longer. The cologne only last a couple of hours though and it needs refreshing from time to time. If it's worn for evening events it may remain lightly through the evening event. Best thing to do is use it generously so there is a base to be re-activated by body heat and mositure.
I enjoy the vintage scent of this AS and Colone as well. It's been manufactured since the 1790's.

I have the AS and like it, I saw the large bottle of cologne at Walmart today in CT. for $17.

It doesn't last long, but I still like the scent.

Just bought a big bottle for my wife, she loves it- and so do I. It is a good unisex scent. I am somewhat reminded of some of my Tom Ford frags in the Neroli Potrtofino collection which must share similar notes.
