A thread going over on SRP got me thinking about favorite cartoon characters. So what are some of yours? I'm thinking mainly TV here, but a newspaper strip favorite would be okay, too. Mine? Easy...Warner Brothers. Bugs, Daffy, Foghorn Leghorn. Also the Pink Panther. Favorite news strip? Beetle Bailey and Peanuts.
Cartoon= Simpsons, Justice league of America. News Strip= Calvin & Hobbes, the Far Side, and Hagar the Horrible.
Cartoons......Family Guy/Futurama/Ren&Stimpy/Dragonball Z/Transformers/Voltron News Strip......Far Side
OLD SCHOOL: Looney Tunes Bugs, you know... Rankin-Bass Christmas / Holiday toons were always a fave Charlie Brown Today: Mr. Meaty Spongebob Squarepants News Strip: ............I dont read the paper
Rick (and everybody else), check out the Seattle Post-Intellgencer website. You can read all the daily 'toons without having to take the paper.
Bloom County; Best. Comic. Ever. Far Side Day By Day The Neighborhood Cartoons: Looney Tunes, before they cut out the "violence" Tom&Jerry and Droopy (Tex Avery) Simpsons The Tick Futurama
Speaking of Cartoons...... Disney announced that they will digitally remove all smoking references from all their movies. Am I the only one that finds that the most ridiculous thing. Cruella DeVille not smoking that long thing cigarette?......come on....its like we are living in a Police State or something.
That is ridiculous. Police nanny state. What are they going to do, have her chomping on a celery stick while she discusses killing puppies to make a fur coat? "Yes, it is a bit dark in theme, but at least she's eating healthy!" TOONS Vintage Popeye Betty Boop Early Daffy Duck before he switched to Whiny Annoying Duck, sometime just after the "Oh Sesame" cartoon (Daffy hugging the pearl as the oyster closes on him...my last "late" DD fond memory) Bugs Bunny before he became Groucho Marx Lite Bunny OK, I'm hyperventilating. Time to move on. Modern I define modern as the point after Daffy Duck turned to Whiny Annoying Duck. Ren and Stimpy Spongebob Squarepants Aqua Teen Hunger Force...I feel guilty for admitting I like this crazy show, but there you are Tom Goes To The Mayor...this is admittedly stretching the definition of "toon" very far indeed The Simpsons, not for the quality of the animation (except for their movie), but for the humour Futurama King of the Hill Fairly Odd Parents...a kid's show that puts in enough humour for adults to get the reference and enjoy as well Hmm...can anyone tell I like toons a lot? :rofl
And for the real fanatics... http://www.davemackey.com/animation/wb/index.html http://www.animationarchive.org/ http://www.cartoonresearch.com/ All off John K's blog. Love him or hate him, Mr. K. certainly revitalized animation with Ren & Stimpy. OK, I'll shut up now. :shocked002
I'm not much into cartoons now but I liked Yugio.
