    Howdy all,

Now as some of you know I recently got engaged. Which means there has to be a wedding soon. Which also means I need a nice wedding day shave.

Which leads me to what I need help with.

For my wedding day I want to be able to use a new brand new razor. Something high end like with perferably ivory or bone scales. Does anyone have a razor that pops to mind right away? Or can anyone recomend a place to get a custom razor made to my specifications?

Does thiers issard still do custom razors?

I'm not too afraid to spend a bit of money but nothing too over the top

First of all, congrats on getting engadged! Now, down to business. =) If you haven't already, hop on over to Straight Razor Designs and check out some of the nice razors there... Some over a thousand dollars! I don't know if you wanted something quite that vague, but I don't know any other way other than to pick one out for you, and I have expensive taste! :happy102

    Edit:
Just found this place. Really nice stuff too, not as expensive.

Thank for the links. I found some nice stuff that would be a nice option.

I still have a few years to go but for sure worth it to look at and keep my options open.

I'm not a straight shaver, but I wouldn't recommend using something for the first time right before your wedding. It's just not worth the risk of it being a bad razor for you. If you want a fairly new special razor I'd say that's a great idea; I'd simply shave with it a few times before to make sure you don't end up walking down the isle with razor burn.

I think this is excellent advice. Though I've had lots of experience with lots of straight razors, I shave very carefully with a newly purchased, professionally honed razor, and, even then, end up with ugly nicks on occasion.

Well wifey will certainly be getting a heck of a future oriented planner!!

(I am with ChemErik and the logic of not using an untested implement on your wedding day. You are better off with an old reliable, than a new risky shave experience on such an important day. What you don't need is a nasty nick or two to have to put up with. Perhaps a kick ass new brush and bowl, or wonderful new scent, or ....)

I meant to clarify that I would have used this razor a few times before just to get used to it.

As for the brush and bowl I'm pretty set in my ways. I love my omega brush and I always face lather so I'm happy with what I have.

As for new scents, that's why I have birthdays and christmas;) why waste my big day just for a new soap when I can think of the bug picture:p

Just think when I'm old and grey I can take my son or grandson aside and say here, take this razor. I shaved with it on my wedding day and still use it up until this day, it's been with me through thick and thin and has given me moments of relaxation and joy. It is yours now treat it good and then when your old and grey pass it on to your son and share the joy in life like I have with you.

Doesn't that sound appealing to you all?

That's what popped into my head when I read your original post the first time.

Just keep in mind wedding day jitters. They'll make for shaky hands.

We all love to share our passion so I can see why it would appeal to others.

As for wedding day jitters I'm good with nerves but I'll keep the syptic pencil close by;)

I just saw a link given to me from a member here for custom TI razors. It says they won't ship ivory handle razors to Canada!:(

Probably has something to do with Canadian Customs.

Yeah I would assume since it's ivory it's mire controlled, also
can't be shipped to the states it says.

Hmm looks like I'll be making a trip to Europe
    sometime soon;) lol
