Thanks for all the welcomes! I am completely new and have no idea what I will end up settling on using. I have however purchased and am awaiting the arrival of a KAI Captain Excelia Folding razor and a Vulfix 2235. These are my starting points. We will see where I am taken from there product wise. Thanks again for all the warm welcomes.....feels like a great place to be to learn about wet shaving!
Welcome to the straights! I'm still new myself. Been doing it for a month, the most fun you'll ever have shaving. If you ever go out looking for straight supplies give Larry Andro's website whippeddog.com a look. He has excellent prices on some good steel and supplies. Sounds like you have the razor and brush taken care of. If you have a local walmart or pharmacy pick up some Van Der Hagens soap. It's cheap and it'll give you something good to start with while you surf the Internet and buy 20 soaps and creams. You'll get the best recommendations from the senior members here though
Welcome. You'll find the information you're looking for here. There are a number of folks, like myself, who shave with straights as well as DE and SE. I have all three types of razors in my regular rotation.
Welcome to TSD. Good call on the Vulfix brush. Don't know too much about KAI razors, but glad to have another straight user on board.
Thanks for all the welcomes! I have also now purchased a iKon DE razor as well. I am awaiting that. Using that will also be my first DE shaving experience. I look forward to it!
