So I'm scouting brushes on best grooming tools and there are 5 different grades. I realize pure is the basic entry but if best is taken from all over the pelt where does black come in. Also what seperates super from silver tip? Is there a big degree of quality between pure, best and black? How about best from super, I don't think I could come up with silver tip money.

Based on your descriptions, I'm guessing you are looking at Rooney's

    Super is dandy

Silver Tip is 1 degree dandier

Pay more attention to handle size for comfort!

    just my 2 cents!

I should kick you in the nuts for calling pure, basic entry!

In summation, Super is merely treated/dyed silvertip, black badger is pure either treated or untreated depending on the origin of the badger.

I wouldn't call it grades of quality when comparing types of badger, each type has it pluses and minuses as well as uses. Just because some cost more doesn't make them better than an another. More money usually only equals softer and or denser, but not in the case of Plisson :happy102

yeah I thought there was only pure super and silver tip. Whoda thunk so much variety from a rather small critter. I have a pure myself just was curious if I was missing out on something.
