So on the 25th June I ordered an Ambrose custom strop from Texas, size 2x24 strop with a plain end. This has the look of traditional and tall and slender strop that they used back in the day. A work of craftsmanship by a true artisan. When I opened the parcel and picked up the Ambrose strop - the first word that came to mind was SUBLIME! The quality and the thickness of the leather is outstanding - the hardware is of the highest quality. The linen backing is superb too. This strop is a work of art - so much so that I kind'a want to buy another to keep - although I am sure this one will last me along time. Finally something to match the care and attention I give my own blades! I have attached some pictures. Although it at a glance is an expensive piece, when you handle the real thing, you realize it is worth every penny and more.
Looks like a beautiful stop and knowing the craftsman who made it would certainly enhance the experience of using it for me. I'm sure it will serve you well for the rest of your life.
