Have tried it the last two days for the first time and boy oh boy. Just like the tutorial states. An almond size dab will be good for 3/4 passes easily plus touch ups... For the cost this Arko can't be beat...
Arko creams are definitely worth trying. Really super stuff. I especially like the scent of the Extra Sensitive. ______________________________________
P160 just became my new favorite budget soap, $3 for 100g or roughly $41 shipped for 2lbs if you can find the big kilo bricks! Granted I bought the tub for $8.50, I'm on the look out for a fresh kilo brick to vacuum seal
I dunno the Italian soft soap/cream seems to smell better and give better shaves, but I only have tried the Regular/Regular versions of Arko...
Thanks for the info Aaron. The only Arko I've used is the sensitive. I guess I'll have to try some P160. If it works out I'll be breaking out my vacuum sealer also. Alan in AZ
Arko soap and the creams are wonderful. Unfortunately, I don't use them as often as I should. However, that will soon change.
I would pick up some now while you can from Phil, its fresh, rumors are they're going to stop producing it Mark even posted this on Superlather... "P160 Announcement! My P160 supplier has recently informed me that the fall production shutdown (a regular event to allow employees to go on holiday) may very well be the last one for the P160 soap. This has not been definitively confirmed and indeed my supplier has told me that the parent company is renewing contracts with suppliers that sell the P160 which is a curious thing to do if you no longer intend to manufacture the soap. i just got their cream for 2 bucks, O LAWD!!! smells and works great!!!!!! im using the arko stick too, its pretty amazing, i tossed out my Wilkinson sword shaving soap, doesn't work well and keeps my skin dry.
Unfortunately I have an allergy to the shaving creams. Tried 4 different brands including arko and it was getting worse so I pifed them to someone, but dashmaverick is sending me an arko stick and I have high hopes for it.
I wish I knew! At first I used creams 3 days a week and the red, itchy, 1st degree sunburn look I thought was razor irritation wasn't. I've never had allergies to anything but the redness was spreading to areas where the razor never touched. Funny thing is that my high time bump stopper cream neutralized it and the redness went away in about 30 minutes, and I was like razor burn doesn't heal that fast. I've tried godrej, dalan, arko and shave my face, each gives the same rash but not soap. It's a bummer but I had only been using cream since the end of May so going back to soap full time is OK.
My guess would be Stearic Acid. Looking at the ingredients listed in this thread, I see Stearic Acid listed in almost all of the creams, but it is missing in most of the soaps.
Bill, I rather doubt that as stearic acid is just a fat chain that is part of most natural fats and oils (although as only a small part of the fatty acid mixture). Plus, many creams have parabens and glycols that are more likely to be an issue and are rare in soaps.
Thinking of trying one of your creams. Bill certainly endorses your wheat cream, I don't have the ingredient list for the ones I had so does yours have anything different than your soap?
