My 1st shave in a long time with a soap instead of a cream, and Valobra Menthol soap is excellent. The lather is a pleasure to work with, and the post-shave feeling is great. I think the menthol is more for the scent than anything else, because I really don't feel any cooling sensation from it. My Super Speed is a treasure--a very fine gentleman in this Group sent it to me!

3 Passes + Touch-Ups = Off The Hook, Bang A Gong, BBS Oblivion!

WOW! I slammed my FatBoy to 9 the other day and loved it, so I went ahead and dialed the Progress up to 5 just to see what it would be like. On the first stroke, I could hear and feel that being dialed to 5 was nothing to get careless with. Paying careful attention to my technique, I pulled off a 3 pass shave that with a few touch-ups that has got to be one of the closest shaves ever! No cuts, no runs, no drips, no weepers, no errors.

Of course everything could change tomorrow, but as of right now, I do believe that I am falling into the aggressive is better category of wet shavers.

Not a bad shave, but not particularly good either. I'm tired and didn't really feel motivated to spend the time on a good shave. Even though I didn't get any tugging from the blade, it wasn't as smooth and ended up with a good bit of razor burn. The razor burn was brought to the forefront when I used a splash of the BayRum and my face caught on fire. Should have stopped at 4 shaves on the blade.

I'll give this one 3/5 blades. 60% is still passing but barely.

Yesterday I received 3 razors and today tried 2 out, the first the Valet Auto Strop, I have the version the dosen't take the modified SE blade, so I modified a DE blade, the shave was so so, it really needs the thickness of a SE blade, but hey I can shave with it, so then I used the Schick to clean up the rest of the stubble, the model L is very mild know where near as aggressive as my PAL, so in the end I used my alloy Tech with a Shimmed up blade up to finish the shave off. In the end I ended up with a reasonable shave after a lot of passes, hey but it was fun. The M-Bomb rocks, finally sussed how to use it, eye watering menthol MWF!!!!.

Good, but not great. I should have retired this Merkur yesterday, but these babies are so damn expensive that I'd like to get my money's worth. It was more than serviceable, just less than stellar. The SOTQ A2 really performed beautifully and brought the quality of the shave up, given the 5 day old Merkur. Add some Aqua Velva to finish off my shave and I'm ready to roll. Bring on the weekend!!
