I have always claimed spring to be my favorite season with the fresh grass, fresh leaves, and fresh air. Maybe it is an age thing but I am really falling more and more in love with fall.

After the hot muggy summer the cool crisp air is heavenly. Eating supper by tiki torch light on the deck without the bugs. Laughing at the squirrel trying to bury a walnut, with the husk still on, in the crack between the driveway and the yard (literally jumping up and down on it). It is time to get the bird feeder out and knock off the dust and the cobwebs.

I am looking at my pipe racks and am reminded of the fall seasons of my youth. Pheasant hunting with Grampa. Deer hunting with Dad. The smell of Hoppes solvent cleaning and oiling the long guns. Grampa and Dad always with briar in the corner of their mouths. Tonight I have selected a corn cob pipe packed with pistachio nut blend.

    My friends, life is good.

Yeah, sounds great. I lived in Omaha, NE from 2001 to 2007 and most of my early life in and around Denver, CO. Autumn was always my favorite time of year. I don't miss the cold and snow down here in Florida though! I have gotten to where I need for it to be hot and humid anymore.

My seasons in order of preference:

Fall - football, sweat shirt or flannel during the day, light jacket at night, and the smells!
Winter - you can always add a layer, gotta love the holidays.
Spring - too much fluctuation in temps
Summer - you can only take so much off!

Fall is definitely my favorite time of year too. It is a time of celebration and gatherings. From Apple festivals to Harvest parties, there is always something going on. Deer roasts, squirrel dumplings, apple cider, and homemade pies. The sights of the leaves changing, the haze of summer disappearing, and the smells that come with the decaying leaves.

    Simply Divine.

    ah yes... the debate begins...

change the cotton sheets to flannel....

or because of the up and down weather pattern...

keep the cotton and wear flannel clothing....

or put on the flannel sheets and wear cotton..

    oh woe is Fall

    give me hard core Winter!

That way I can get 3 layers of bedding up and hide underneath!

    :p

oh but wait... give me the favourite time.. Halloween!

    Damn right, Halloween!!

We have this development near me that is the pinnacle of Halloween. The whole place is a huge competition of who has the best trick or treat displays. There are a handful that even do stuff for the adults such as food (Hot dogs, burgers, ect.), and even drinks (usually shots on a platter). There are even houses that set up different "haunted house" skits in the driveways and lawns that the kids have to go through on the way to the door. By the time we leave every year, the kids have more candy than they will ever eat, and me and the wife and usually full and buzzed!!
