Last week a kid in the youth group that I teach said his grandpa had an old shaving kit sitting in his closet that he never used. He said he would see if his gramps would mind if he gave it to me. This is what he brought me last night: It's an NOS Pierre Cardin shaving set. Mug, boar brush, and some super spicy soap. [My apologies for the horrible photo quality. I haven't found a quick enough way to get my camera photos on the the forum. I'll have to make do with cell photos until then.]
The colleague I converted in the beginning of this year gave me his two times used Mitchell's Wool Fat soap in a ceramic bowl with words that he will stick to creams. Now I can get to MWFing again. I had a feeling I wouldn't buy the bowl Now I have both for free.
That is an option, but I doubt I will take it. I think I'll hang onto the boar right now. I have two badgers. Maybe if I pick up an Omega or a Semogue later on I might make this a badger. SCORE!
Because I don't like boar hair. That's why I said it's a perfect candidate - if it were mine of course.
I ordered the T&H sampler for $10 including shipping. Figured I would get in a week and no worries. To my surprise it came 3 days later in a pouch to keep the samples even. I could not believe all the samples and in a bag for 10 bucks shipped.
Bud - Please, please, please tell us exactly where you bought that sampler pack! Please post a link because I need to order that sampler pack!
Here's my haul, nothing cool like the Cardin set, or the 11ty billion awesome razors, but hey. 2nd Bottle of Elixir Red Citron Body Wash, which was free Wally Wilkinson's, they smell like crayons and appear to have some corrosion on the ends of the blade already :happy102
That's 'cause they are made by Schick who lost their double-edge way a lonnnnnnnng time ago! Sad really that Mall-Wart kicked GEM/Personna out and replaced them with Schick's other brand, Wilkinson Sword - and now people are left only with having to choose between Gillette's crap and Schick's crap. But the reviews of these WS blades have actually been good and I've been fighting the urge to try them, if for nothing else but principle alone! It's never good to have less options in the DE world, especially when the largest retailer in the world is dictating those choices. Looking forward to hearing what you think about the WS blades.
Oops! NOS Just got a Rolls I picked up on ebay for $15. I was looking to pick up a couple of spare blades, hones and strops. But looks like its NOS. Viscount Model (post WW2) Will probably be my "travel" Rolls.
Nice Rolls. Your experiment with them has me wanting to finally try one . They look a bit fussy, just the thing to try and keep the hobby fun.
Hey Hanzo, Once the blade is "right", not to bad. Strop after each shave and plan to hone every 2 wks to 1 mo.. Both honing and stropping require 40-50 passes with the rig. Figure a couple of min's. Not saying you shouldn't keep a DE backup handy though.
Dad's Haul Some very nice hauls Gentlemen Jody has a nice collection started with one haul! My Dad's haul of the week is a display cabinet for his gear. He hasn't outdone me ..YET....but he is getting close. Keeps telling me "it will all be yours someday" **LOL**
