Just had to try my hand at something other than knives. The blade, bolsters and spacers on this one are twist pattern stainless Damasteel hardened to Rc 63 and the handle is Warthog Ivory with anodized titanium liners.
First, WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAh!:1respect Very amazing, beautiful, work. Totally awesome. Now, how does it shave and has it been honed? 63 is on the harder side of razors as I think TI is usually around 62. If it shaves as good as it looks, then you have something truly amazing. If not you still have some truly amazing. If you can't find someone to test it for you, I'll gladly hone it and give it a whirl.:signs002 Again, that is truly a masterpiece and one for the books. That may not be perfection itself, but its about as close in beauty as it gets.
Thank you guys. Yes, honed, stropped and terribly sharp. I don't shave much but I tested it dry on my arm and then dry on a small patch of my cheek. It works beautifully. This baby is unfortunately (fortunately for me) sold to a knife collector and I doubt that it will ever be used. The Damasteel is a laminate of two components namely RWL34 and PMC27 stainless steels. The RWL is the hardest of the two and heat treated to 63Rc while the PMC27 should be around 59Rc. Glad you like it.
That's absolutely fantastic!! The scales look, to be the downer of the group, like they would outweigh the blade a little, but beautiful work nonetheless! (And I have some off-balanced blade-scale combos in my rotation, so no harm done!) Nice!
Thank you gentlemen. That is unfortunately true. I used Ti liners to keep the weight down but it's still on the heavy side. Next time around I will definitely do a bit better.
