Erik, I'm currently fighting a bit of a chest cold and when I got in from work tonight and read that post, I started a laughing/coughing fit that I'm sure woke up the neighbors (and this is rural MS, so they're a LONG way off). Made my day. As to shaving: the head - Big heck no. May this misshapen noggin never see daylight. the pits and chest - I keep the forest in check with an electric trimmer. My girlfriend actually detests these hairless model/actors. Says that she finds it attractive and manly to have an acceptable amount of chest hair. the legs - I really don't think so. Maybe if I was a professional bodybuilder with calves of granite... the *ahem* other region - I'm not bold enough to try that one yet with a DE. This is the only reason I still possess a Fusion. (TMI?... yep, probably)
Sorry. Guess I just don't have a sense of adventure. I'll stick with shaving my face. My beard does grow fast enough that I can and do shave everyday.
I've done it with my Gracie 4/8, simple, effective and fast....Just don't sneeze. Also a TMI post but just letting you know the possibilities.
I googled for "stop" and found this: Back on topic, there's no harm in shaving little bits of your face. Lower neck and behind the ears is pretty harmless as far as no-shave-novemeber and movember are concerned. Especially the latter? Maybe just go for movember? I definitely caved on the lower neck to avoid completing the "circle of fuzz", the belt that runs starting between my legs, up my torso, up my neck, around my head, and down my back. It mustn't happen! There has to be a break in the circle somewhere, so the neck had to go.
I've been keeping everything on my face shaved except the 'stache. My beard just seems to grow slower than many other forum members here.
Years ago, in fact many years ago, back in Israel, we were visiting my grandparents, and my Mom said, "you need a shave, my son, you cannot kiss Grandma and Grandpa when you have so rough a face". My Dad said, "I just saw him shave 10 minutes ago". Back in those days, I was only doing 1 pass shaves, from N-S. Damn, by me it grows fast.
How's it looking, Nathan? I'm 2 weeks in, to the day. The beard stopped looking scruffy and started looking beard-y. :happy108
18 Days In... [BeginLog] Captain's Log, Movember, Day 18 Moustache is funny shaped and inconsistent (see DataEntryM18). Seems to draw much attention from curious Earthlings. Is apparently repulsive to those of the female gender (Captain's Note: Research the possibility of weaponized moustaches as female repellent. Seems very effective). Personal morale is waning. Seems to be no end to Movember in sight. Continuing on in hopes of eventually shaving. Over halfway there... Must fight the urge to shave... [/EndLog] DataEntryM18:
Sorry to bring the thread back on topic , but I'm also cursed (blessed?) with glacially slow growing facial hair. Plus, as with any hobby I get into, I jump in with both feet. This afternoon, there were four boxes waiting for me when I got home from work. In one week, I've gone from shaving with a mach3 to owning 1 SE and 3 DE razors plus an assortment of soaps, creams and blades. My hair only grows fast enough for it to be worth shaving every other day, perhaps even every third day with how close I can shave now, so it's going to take weeks or months to test everything out properly. The hardest part about this is that since this is all new to me, I want to try everything at once, but I've really got to settle into some sort of routine so that I can just change one variable at a time.
We never left the topic. As a participant in Movember, I'd really like my 'stache to grow in quickly and stop looking funny. Alas, my beard groweth slowly. I'm going to put up a new pic every week to see if I can see any difference in how it looks.
