I got a glass bottle of OS on the bay and it arived today. I am fourty years old my dad passed away in 1994 at the age of 72. When I pulled the stopper out of the bottle of OS memories of my dad hit me that I did not expect............ It was because of the memories of him that I had that I started DE shaving about five years ago or so. He used a Gillette Rocket and a can of Foamy to shave fallowed by a dash of OS every sunday morning befor church like clock work. I am still looking for a decent Gillette Rocket I will pass on the Gillette Foamy how ever.... I need to go have a moment now didn't see these emotions coming at all
I know what you mean, Hank. My grandfather passed away on Christmas Eve 2001 and he used to use Old Spice AS religiously. I can remember being really little and running up to hug him as soon as I got to his house and you could always smell it on him. He had an old glass bottle of it but after he passed away, I can't find it anywhere. I'd really like to get my hands on another, not to use, just to have in rememberance of him. Its amazing the power that certain scents can have.
I have read that of all our senses, the sense of smell is the strongest at awakening really old memories.
I can feel you there, OS, Jovan musk and a particular womens perfume( the name escapes me) remind me of some of my favorite folks that have passed on. The smells almost drive me to tears at times or take me back to the best times of my young life.
