So my hoffritz slant bar is starting to have some trouble in twisting in both directions. I notice a hitch in one particular segment of the twisting. I searched to see if there was a way to break it down in hopes of clearing any obstruction but did not find anything. I have just recently noticed this. It may have been a progressive problem, but it didn't become truly apparent until today. Can anyone offer any insight as to how to free up the TTO mechanism or possible break the razor down? Thanks for your help in advance.
I guess that's kind of what I am getting at. On the outside it looks spotless. I know that it may still be very dirty on the inside, but I don't know how to take it apart to give it a proper cleaning/lubrication. I tried twisting the TTO mechanism in both directions with and without the head of the razor, and that didn't release anything. I certainly didn't want to go pulling on anything for fear of damaging the razor.
Give the razor a good soaking in hot dish soap water. A couple hours at a time. Soak over night if it needs it. Try twisting in between soaks but don't force it. That should help a lot. Len
There's a slant TTO razor (1-piece)??? I've never seen one of those! How about a pic to appease mu curiosity.
Three of us had same interpretation of this-I think the title-"TTO" got us thinking "Twist to Open Slant, cool, never heard of that." JoAnna, if you'd like I can list an exhaustive list of studies on the neurology of brain farts. It'll be more interesting than the coffee one I swear. :angelic007
Hardy har. I guess it isn't truly a TTO. Rather, a twist to release. Thanks for the suggestion about the soapy water. I will try it later. Anyone else have other ideas?
I'm thinking it's just soap scum build-up. Clean it, and then add some glycerin or mineral oil or such to lube it.
The split ring retainer can become dislodged from it's recessed groove and this can cause jamming problems.
:signs021 I was afraid to just pull that sucker out. I would hate to damage the razor. Maybe now I will be able to give it a proper cleaning and oiling.
