Thanks, Stingray! I think it was referred to as a 3-piece tech. It says "Gillette" across the front face inside a light diamond shape. It looks so vintage, but it is still relatively shiny and in great shape. The seller tells me it fits tightly and everything is in great working order.

By the way, I am not sure what to call that smooth part on the razor. Face? Head? Is there a glossary of terms for newbz?

I dunno if we have a glossary...I know there is abbreviation thread though.

I call the part that the blade sits on the blade base and the part that sits on top of the razor blade the blade cap, which make up the head assembly. I don't know if that is correct terminology but I have not confused anyone yet by referring to the parts in that manner.

Anyway, you indeed have a Tech and it is a right fine razor to get started with and may be all the razor you ever need but not necessarily the only razor that you will ever want. :signs136

I am in fact fighting the acquisition disorder issues at the moment. The problem with buying a razor is that there are other razors you didn't buy that you wanted. Which can lead to buying more razors.

It seems so innocent and cheap when you buy your first. I don't even have my first one in hand yet -- it's in the mail -- and I am already thinking about what my next one should be. Ridiculous.

I was telling my wife about how some of the people here actually build giant cases in their bathrooms for their stuff. And I mentioned that they send big ol' boxes of stuff around so they can try out different things and send new stuff to other people to try.

She laughed, and was like, it's good that you're not going crazy about it like that.

And I was like, ha! Yeah! (you have no idea). Ha! Ha! I know! (seriously considering it).

My wife is going through that right now also. I'm about 2 weeks into wetshaving and she's threatening to take my debit card away from me! I have a cart full of stuff on various shaving sites just waiting to pull the trigger....

Show her a picture of stingraysrock bathroom and tell her to expect something BIG!

    HAHAH!!

Don't worry. It's very easy to stop buying razors. I've done it dozens of times.

As the Mrs. my advice is GET HER INVOLVED! I now have my own space on THE board in the bathroom, my own cabinet in the bathroom and my goodness, a ton of shaving apparatuses ... AD knows no bounds.

    Welcome,

Search through the forums and ask questions. You won't find a more knowledgeable bunch than the people here at "The Shave Den".

    Have fun!

Yeah right...I wish. That would only contribute to the 'problem'.....

She doesn't even use soap or cream when she shaves....doesn't need it. I'm sure it would 'help', but her skin doesn't get irritated or upset when she shaves using water only in the shower....*GASP* I know right?

EDIT* I just got the wife to use some CO Bigalow in her shower today...she LOVED it. I see some lavender and/or rose soap/cream coming in our future...maybe even her own DE :happy026 We'll take it one step at a time, though

I was adventuresome, I admit, plus I couldn't let Jeff best me at anything ... so I totally took up wet-shaving with him ..

Lavender SC is awesome .. I have used AOS and TOBS .. they are compatible in smell but for lather I prefer TOBS. Also, Erasmic was a big page-turner for me ... it really did well for my legs, I can't get enough now.

Just hang in there, if you put enough carats out there for her, she will be asking for more than you are ...

Yeah ,.. Jeff has totally learned how to work me ..:rolleyes:

hah! This is too true. I got into this because it was supposed to be inexpensive! I hated buying those cartridges to refill my multiblade shaver.

Now I'm looking into buying a new brush, a stand for the brush and razor, pre-shave oils, shaving soaps, shaving cremes, it's endless!!

Defintely gonna buy a another razor, too. And hopefully I can get my hands on a vintage DE as well.

No one has told any lies about addiction yet, Its almost as bad as waterfowl hunting, only just a little more affordable.

Geez....having multiple addictive hobbies is hard, isn't it? Fellow outdoorsman/hunter here, and it's hard feeding both habits!
