Hey all, I have been recently looking into wet-shaving as I can't stand shaving with goo and disposable razors. As such I have only been shaving once or twice a week (Monday's & Thursday's). I saw a posting on a car forum about DE shaving and how it reduces irritation so that caught my attention. I now have the VDH kit from Fred Meyers (bowl, soap, & boar brush) and it has already greatly improved my shaves. I am now shaving every other day happily. I don't have a DE razor yet as my wife will be buying me one for Christmas. I have purchased the GFT sample pack but I am eagerly looking forward to trying new soaps and creams. Thanks, CZ
Welcome, and have fun discovering wetshaving. A lot of people started with that VdH kit. You may want to upgrade the brush at some point, but don't let us talk you into buying too much. Enjoy the forums!
Welcome to the Den! You are in very good company here. I used a DE and canned goo for 25 yrs, then started using a boar brush and Williams about 4 yrs ago and enjoyed that time as the hobby grew on me. I only got the "serious" wet shaving bug a little over a year ago. Do not know why, just did. Discovering this site helped I think. Now shaving is a happy hobby instead of a chore. Sounds like you are well on your way. No rush.
Welcome to The Shave Den, a great community of guys and gals that enjoy wet shaving, I hope you enjoy your stay!
Thanks all for the responses. I visit a few different types of forums and the shaving forums see to have a different atmosphere (very welcoming). Some of the other forums are a little more hostile to new-comers. More of a hazing. If you put up with all of the jokes and harrassment (and dish it out accordingly) then they eventually let you into their club. This is a refreshing change. As to the other locals, the weather is just fine for us. Cold but no snow is fairly easy to cope with. Although the little kids are hoping for a little more snow. Thanks, CZ
