As some of you may remember, my wife is into the horse showing aspect of our pets. She just got a new horse several months ago and has been getting to know him and going to some shows for practice. She attended a two day show in Watsonville this weekend with him and entered a total of 10 classes. Each class had two judges so there was the potential to win 20 ribbons and some prizes. Well, she threw all the pros, trainers and hard core show people into fits this weekend by scoring 17 first places, 2 second places and 1 third place ribbon in her classes. She wiped out the competition. People with $40K+ horses and almost unlimited budgets were jaw dropped by this amateur horse and rider combination. Even better, there was no trainer involved. She and her horse, Indy, did a fantastic job. I'm proud of them both but mostly my wife since she tries so hard and it is tough for her to do this because she suffers from a medical condition. Some days, she can't get out of the house. I applaud her courage and perseverance.
