Razor: 1956 Gillette Red Tip SS
    Blade: Super Iridium
    Brush: Simpson Emperor 2
    Soap: D.R. Harris Marlborough
A/S: Thayer's Lemon Witch Hazel, Realm ASB

This morning's shave was a fine one. I figured it was about time to get out my Red Tip and give it some exercise, and it didn't let me down. It's a very nice razor and I'm not parting with it, even though I don't use it often.

First time using my new Shavemac Brush!!!

Prep: 30 minute marinade with TSD ISZ PSB, Hot Water Towel Compress
Soap: TSD Iced Peppermint (this stuff smells fantastic)
Brush: Shavemac Silver Tip Badger (TSD Fantasy League Champ)
    Razor: !912 Gem Jr.
    Blade: New Pella Stainless
    Post: Cold Water Towel compress
    AS: Iced SubZero

    Shave Rating: 5 Blades

This was an amazing Shave! The mailman brought me my new Shavemac brush today so I had to give it a try. The Brush holds a ton of water and my first lather with it was a little thin but very usable and it made a ton of lather.

This is the best brush I have ever used. Many thanks to the doner if you are reading this.

The picture is not that great - I had to use my cell camera because I could not find the good camera.

    Loofah Exfoliating Pad, before shower
    Warm Shower
Tolsom Facial Cleanser (in the shower)
Pantene Pro-V (kept on face a couple minutes, then rinsed)
Proraso Pre-Post Cream (before pre-shave lather and the third pass)
Hot Towel (with Proraso and lather underneath)
    VDH Deluxe
    Vulfix 247 Pure Badger
    Merkur 11c Open Comb
Wilkinson Sword (3rd and last shave, strop on arm before shower)
    Cold Water Rinse
    Thayers Unscented Witch Hazel
    Cold Water Rinse again
    Thayers Unscented Witch Hazel again
Cold Water Rinse again, the burning finally stops this time
Thayers Unscented Witch Hazel for the last time
    Neutrogena Triple Protect Face Cream

Remarks: I had totally nothing to do today, so I took my time and went all out with the routine. After the whole pre-shave preparation, I decided to try something new and did a North-South, followed by a South-North pass in contrast to WTG and XTG passes that I usually do. I followed that by an ear-to-nose pass and finally smoothed out the rough areas. The result is the smoothest shave I've had so far, at least to the touch. I am totally loving Merkur 11c, it is much more comfortable and delivers closer shaves compared to my only other razor, 23c.

    hmmm... :think002

Three cold water rinses, each followed by WH, before the "burn" finally stopped? Just my opinion, but seems like that burn is hanging around for an awful long time. Too much pressure?

I also noticed you're exfoliating prior to your shower. Many folks would make the recommendation, self included, to drop that from the routine, if possible. The blade is doing quite a bit exfoliating on its own, especially with three passes. Some even say the brush also does a bit of exfoliating. You may be doing too much, and that's what may be causing the lingering burn.

    Just my 2 cents.

I am glad to hear you're enjoying the 11C. I like mine, also.

First of all, thanks for your comments.

Actually, for this particular shave I indeed went against the advice and applied pressure. I got irritation alright, but also I got such a close shave. Other times, I get irritation after the third pass anyway but the shave is not nearly close.

About the exfoliating, I think you are right when you say that I am loosing more skin than I can afford. I also thought that might be the case. Face scrubs kind of do the same thing to me also. I do those to break the ingrown hair on my neck free. I will try moving them to 8-10 hours prior to the shave or even doing it once every 2-3 shave before eliminating it altogether.

Today's shave was relaxing and OH SO NEEDED! Finally, our audit is over and hopefully I will be back to a normal schedule.

Anyhoo, I was surprised and pleased that I was able to get four shaves out of this Pella. Three is generally the magic number for me.

Have a great Sunday everyone!! :D;):D

    Lubriderm unscented moisturizer

I really enjoy this Lavera cream, because it reminds me a lot of Speick with its skincare, which is very soothing and protective. I got a very nice and smooth shave today, but I had to go very carefully, because my eye which had the surgery is still not 100% recovered.

Have a great Sunday, my dear friends! ;) :D
