Happy Monday From Florida! Hot Shower PanChango Special Re-Knot Irisch Moos Stick Star 3-Piece Voskhod Blade (3) Cold Water Rag Tet-A-Tet ASB Fonex Breezy Cologne 2 Passes = 4 Blade DFS! I had such a great shave yesterday with the Star 1912 that all I needed today was a light touch up. If it were not for an audit exit meeting this morning, I probably could have skipped shaving if I wanted to, but who wants to do that when we have so much fun shaving?!? Have a great week Ya'll!
Feather Portable Bull Mastiff RP Israeli Personna (1) Ever-Ready 200 Super Silvertip Arko Shave Stick in a mug Alum Superior 70 Bay Rum The Feather Portable Bull Mastiff with the RP Israeli Personna was the first setup I was using when things started to click. It was nice to revisit this combo. I was rewarded with a very nice two pass close comfortable shave. Shave two with the brush resulted in another loss of 8 hairs, bring the total to 26. I'm hoping things will settle down shortly as I am enjoying the Super Silvertip knot. Have a great day all.

SOTD Monday, January 10, 2011 Razor: 1948-50 Gillette Super Speed Blade: Wilkinson Stainless Shaving Soap: Cella Lather Bowl: Ceramic Scuttle: RAB Ceramic Brush: Omega Professional Boar Astringent: Dickinson's Witch Hazel ASB: Nivea Replenishing Aftershave/Cologne: Lustray Coachman Results: Wonderfully comfortable! First use of the Cella and I was very impressed with the performance of the lather and the amount of lather produced. I used the standard amount for shave creams since the Cella looked similar. The lather exploded and filled the bowl after a short mixing with the brush. I still had a little chunk of soap that stuck to the bottom of the bowl and wasn't dissolved. After transferring the lather to my scuttle for heating I removed the chunk and put it back in the Cella tub; there was enough for another shave out of it. I wasn't all that jazzed about the scent of the Cella as it came off as heavy duty industrial soapy scent. I have heard that this is the scent of the European Barber Shops which it might be but, not the scent of the Barber Shops of my youth that's for sure. Not that the scent was off-putting, just different. Using the '48 Gillette Super Speed this morning brought back a lot of memories. I can remember the Gillette advertisements for this razor on the TV back in 1948-50. My Dad always watched the Friday Night Fights (Boxing) on TV in St. Louis and they would advertise Gillette Blue Blades and Gillette razors. The announcers did the local commercials which was for Falstaff Beer made in St. Louis. (I think the brand is gone now) He would pour a bottle of Falstaff in a tall Pilsner Glass and produce a large head of foam that would arc over the top of the glass but never overflow. As a kid I was always waiting for the foam to run down the side of the glass but it didn't (This guy was an artist at pouring beer! LOL) At the end of his commercial spiel he would take a big long slug from the Pilsner Glass about half way down and say " Flagstaff, that's good Beer". This would happen every time they went to commercial break and by the end of the show needless to say this guy was feeling no pain and could hardly talk! It's funny how these memories come back spurred by the simple act of shaving! At any rate, I love the '48 SS which is an outstanding razor. I got one for my Son a couple of years back to introduce him to wet shaving. (He was 40 years old and had never used a DE only Carts.) That razor turned him into a devoted wet shaver as well, so that is another reason the '48 Gillette SS is a favorite of mine.
