I fancy trying a rose scented shave cream. I'm leaning towards Trumpers. I'm aware that TOBS & DR Harris also make rose creams. Any opinions? Thanks! CSL.
I haven't tried Trumpers but I do have TOBS Rose. Smells just like roses to me. Very little is needed to create a lather bomb. 15 bucks
IMHO, the only reason to pay more for Trumper's or T&H compared to TOBS is for scents. The only Trumper's scent I've even considered is violet. I like several T&H scents, but I can't say I like the T&H rose more than TOBS rose, which is the best of the few TOBS scents I've experienced. So, I'd recommend TOBS for an English rose cream. Never had a sniff at the Harris though.
TOBS Rose is absolutely outstanding, got mine from Bullgoose. Good stuff, I also have Trumpers which is good but not as good as TOBS IMHO.
Harris Rose, nigh on identical to Trumpers Rose in scent but slightly thicker lather. A Rose scent to try outside of the Mayfair collective would be Cyril R Salter Wild Rose.
Is it true that Harris Rose has a bit more dye than the others and will colour the brush pink? Thanks.
QC Rose I heard that the QC Rose Otto cream is more like a soft soap. Is that true? How is the lathering?
It has a putty like consistancy in the same way that Cella or Arko or Poraso do. I call it a croap: cream/soap. It has tallow in it and it lathers up just fine. I dig a small chunk out and put it in the scuttle so the heat softens it a little then I commence mashing on it with a boar. Works every time.
