A fine Sunday shave this morning. I get about 4 good shaves per blade with the Dura Sharp and about 5 with an Astra Superior, making the cost per blade essentially equal. The Penhaligon's was a joy to use--and to sniff, with loads of rich, creamy, fragrant lather. A splash of Alt Innsbruck, and I felt that this was a very special Sunday.

That is Great! I am right there with you. I have had 6 shaves with my straight so far. At fIrst I thought I would just use the straight once a week until I got used to it. However it did not turn out that way. I think once I get more comfortable with it I will put it into my weekend rotation.

Remarks: This was a night shave, 36 hours after my previous one. I tried J-hooking for the first time in my life. After the usual North-South, South-North and ATG passes, I decided to give this technique a try while doing the touch ups. The result was not bad, I got some irritation though. I am starting to think that this has something to do with stainless steel blades; I get nicks and cuts and irritation while shaving, half an hour after the shave my face is all smooth, except for the redness. I'll see how platinum blades will work for me after this one.
