Monday, January 24, 2011, about 9:00am Norelco Elec. Razor on Sideburns Tolsom Facial Cleanser Hot Towel with Pantene Pro-V on Face Proraso Pre-Post Cream (before each pass) Vulfix 247 Pure Badger VDH Deluxe, face lathered, brush reloaded before each pass Merkur 11c Open Comb Vidyut SuperMax Stainless Blade (3rd and last shave, stropped on arm) Cold Water Rinse Thayers Unscented Witch Hazel Neutrogena Triple Protect Facial Lotion Remarks: I started off with a trim of the sideburns using my old electric razor. After the usual prep routine, I did my North-South and South-North passes, but I did J-hooking on the third pass instead of the usual ATG. I had high hopes about that after my last shave, but it was just barely okay. I might need time with this technique or even it might be because of this particular blade. I am currently in the process of trying different blades and my final opinion about this blade is somewhere between Derby and ASCO. Next time, I will go back to Wilkinson with Arko SS to see how much I have improved in terms of technique. I think that will help me better evaluate the performance of each new blade that I try.

The Rapira Lux blade is so much smoother than the Feather for me, and coupled with the Krona produced a very smooth, irritation free shave With that much Menthol all wrapped up into one shave, all I can say is, "Who turned off the heat?" :anifrozen 5 Blades!
Ball End Tech Wilkinson Sword (2) TGN Silvertip Badger TBS Maca Root Shave Cream Neutrogena AS Balm AV Musk I can't seem to find the right size bowl/mug to lather in. Today's was massive, and I had lather going all the way up the sides, making it difficult to control. On the other hand, the standard style coffee mug feels too narrow to really get the brush going. I have a cup that's in between and a good size, but has an annoying lip on the bottom. Oh well, I'll figure it out at some point. Anyway, another nice shave tonight. Sticking with cold water and seeing if it helps long term. I still have burn, but it does seem like less. However (and this may all be in my head), I feel like I get closer shaves with warm/hot water shaves. But Ebert gives it a 4/5, because he lacks confidence and makes up for it by exaggerating his achievements. It must be nearing 1 am. This is called a ramble.
