I'm not sure if anyone else has had this idea or not, but when my Proraso cap cracked I replaced it with a cap from a tube of toothpaste. The one I chose is hinged, so there is no more taking the cap off to get to the shave cream.

I finally got around to snapping a pic of the cap fix. I'm not sure which brand this is off of, maybe crest, but it works fine.

Thats a good fix. But to avoid the infamous Proraso cap break a good preventative is to take a tooth pick and clean the inside of the cap of shaving cream. The cream gets into the grooves of the cap and seems to create the pressure that breaks it. This is old forum wisdom passed down by my betters.:)

    That's cool.

I just bought 3 5.2 oz. tubes of C. O. Bigelow from BBW, because of the great comments on here. They had a buy 2 get one free deal. I will see if the toothpaste cap works. Thanks.

That is a great idea. Even though my cap is not broken, I think I will change it for the toothpaste cap. It will be a lot easier to open and close it. Thanks!

That is Brilliant! I hate futzing with the cap. My question is...Does it just screw on, or do you use an adhesive of some kind?

It surprised me, but it screwed right on. Was one of the best feelings as i found it when the original broke. Talk about necessity being a mother of invention!

So cool--this will be much quicker to deal with than dealing with the cap and putting it back on. Anything that saves me a bit of time in the morning is a blessing.

    Thanks for the idea!
