1st stupid newb question: When finished shaving, people say to not leave the blade in there & to take it out, dry it off along w. the razor innards, parts, etc. WHERE do you guys keep that blade while the razor is hung up? Maybe I have to craft somethng? a blade hidey-hole between shaves? I'm just wondering what the norm is... Thanks. I'm trying to establish a routine, so I'm tryin' to learn GOOD habits from the pros....lol.... Thanks! Respectfully, Jason
I see no reason to take the blade out between shaves. Hot water rinse, alcohol dip, hang to dry is my routine.
My blade stays in the razor until it moves to the trash blade bin. There was a recent discussion here about this.
so basically clean it out then dry it off good, then put it back. you know, the simplest answer ends up being the right one....thanx!!!
I just rinse the razor under hot water, shake off the excess and hang it up. Used blades go into an old RX bottle with a child proof cap.
For a typical DE razor I rinse it... I have a screw cap tub of barbicide... dip it in there while I finish up with rinsing off and applying AS, then hang razor to dry.
I rinse the razor with blade in said razor and then just place it on its side and let it dry. I've tried Alcohol and Barbicide and found it makes absolutely no difference in how many shaves I get from a blade. That's my experience.. YMMV! Old blades go into a shot glass. (I have no little ones running about!)
shave, rinse with water, dry, put away. repeat on day 2. depending on what blade it is, it either gets chucked after 2 shaves or 1 more. heck, these things are 10-15cents for most blades, my face is worth a new blade every 2 shaves :shocked003
Rinse with water, dip in 91% alcohol and put the razor in my green Marvy Mug for the next shave. Spent blades go into my high tech blade bank which is an old mouth wash bottle. Family size so a blade a week, I should be good for the rest of my life.
barbicide makes no difference on blade survival. However, with our hard water, my razor turns white with water deposits in 3 days. With a barbicide soak, it stays shiny.
Like Steve, I rinse the blade, hand strop it and put it in the next razor in my rotation. No need to dry the blade.
I always remove the blade, rinse in hot water and then lay it on a paper towel until my next shave. I do this so I can clean my razor as I might not use it for a couple months. I'm always changing razors from shave to shave. Len
I shave IN the shower..so to me makes sense..just flick 1 time to get excess water out..then hang on stand for next use ST
