Fantastic! Hrmmm. But if it has no serial number, it should be in a lithographed tin box instead of the leather covered wood box. Interesting.
Edit... The first Double rings with no serial numbers came in a white cardboard box. My Double Ring without serial number came in the black box. It didn't survive the test of time so well as it's in a few pieces. But it stayed with the razor. Here's mine with the end piece of the box. It's in beautiful shape, nice and shiny. I didn't remove the patina. I just checked my black cardboard box and find that my serialized Double Ring leather covered wooden case fits perfectly in it. So Highballs set probably originally came in the black shipper box. I don't know which came first, the tin box or the cardboard boxes but it does appear that the non-serialized sets came in both boxes. What I don't understand is why the tin box says "Patented in all the principal countries of the world" if the US patent was not issued until Nov. 15 1904. Len
Hi Jody, Unfortunately there's nobody around left that can give us the accurate story. And yes there are many Gillette mysteries still unanswered. Len
