Having the opportunity 'to buy some blades Dorco, I would like to know about you, old sea wolves, if they are a good product or not .. I only know that they are manufactured in Korea, and there are two types, the 300 and 301. There 's the difference between the two? Thanks in advance!
Dorco also makes SE blades. But I would stay away from them. The ST-301 is platinum coated and the 300 isn't. The ST 301 is a better quality blade. Some can use these blades with lots of success. However, neither the 300 or 301 work that well for myself.
Dorco 301 was an okay blade. Best I could get was 3 days, 4 maybe IF I didn't mind some tugging on the neck/throat area.
I like the Dorco Plat's..very good!..wish I had more but I have many Yellow G's n others to "shave" through..the blue ones are stainless..nothing will tame them..:happy102 ST
I recently used the 300's and have to say they are thus far the worst blade I've tried! I'm told the 301's are great, but the 300's have left a bad taste... so I'll stick with Personna's and Derby's for now!
you can get a hundred for $9 & change.....you can get 200 Derby blades for $18 & change....it's your call....cheapo is cheapo & when you're splitting hairs at the dollar store...yer bored...LOL. My question would be how many shaves can I get from these things.....if I was going to get 200 of something, I'd want them to last me a while...granted it's only $10-$20 but still, quality of shave & number of shaves I can get. Apparently people like Feathers & Derbys....others swear by others but those are the names I hear the most....
Amen to that! I got some when I ordered my Feather SE's and decided to try one. I think if I hadn't been so excited about how cool the spine looked on the blade (not plain like GEM's) I wouldn't have been as dissapointed. For me it was like shaving with a DALCO blade (a good vintage scandinavian hollow ground DE blade....yikes!). I haven't tried the DE's but I don't think I will.
I think the general trend is set here and I agree. The 300s just aren't very good and very few people like them. The 301s are much better and have both fans and detractors. I personally find the 301s good enough, but not a favorite.
Kinda like a step up to the CVS variety & the 300's would be the equivalent of the CVS variety... SHARKS are descent, but they last maybe 2-3 quality shaves....looking for something that yeilds maybe 5-7 consistently?
I get five comfortable shaves from all the blades I use - I hand strop before every shave. Back when I was only using DEs I would get seven shaves. Hand strop a new blade and pop it in every Monday morning and I was set for the week. I still put in a new DE blade every Monday, but Saturday is for str8s and Sunday for SEs. Changing every Monday is just easier for my feeble memory By the way, I get 5-7 good shaves when I hand strop an SE blade, as well.
thanks for the replies, I see many nice words for these blades, but 'my curiosity ' tells me to try them, then I will tell you 'my experience ....
yeup Sharks are like the Dorcos, there are two versions, one is okay, the other is quite good that's the only way to know for sure if a blade will work for your or not, unfortunatley. Blade performance is such a personal thing, you and I may agree on one particular blade being great and we both get great shave from it, but then disagree on another. Good luck!
I get 1 ok shave with the 300s, that's all. However, for me they are definitely better that Trig & Treet. Others will no doubt, disagree....
