Just noticed it today; looked new. Sniffed the bottle, smelled pretty good, didn't buy. Over $5 for the bottle, about the size of AV's Musk. Anyone tried it?
I have seen a few Stetson users in the SOS threads. It smells okay to me, but I am looking for that one scent... that old man scent that someone at work wears. It is very elusive. It is not any flavor of Aqua Velva, Skin Bracer, Brut, Old Spice, vintage Avon, Masters or Clubman. Even if I found the guy I would be hesitant to ask what the scent is... I will find it one day.

The scent in the bottle is meh, once its been on your skin and mixes with oils after an hour or so its decent.
Stetson was the first A/S I ever was gifted as a kid and still enjoy it today. I agree it's fairly potent out of the bottle though once it calms down it's fanatastic IMO. Jeff - English Leather Maybe?
How 'bout British Sterling? I used to wear that years ago but haven't bought any since the late 70's or early 80's. Think I'll go buy some and get nostalgic! Maybe my wife will remember the stud I used to be! haha I also love Stetson and have actually had women I didn't even know comment on how good it smelled on more than one occasion! We have a Coty plant in the town where I live. They used to have an outlet store where you could get some great buys, especially around Christmas. They always had two BIG sales a year....then someone robbed the store and they just shut it down! Since it's in our fire district, the FD does a walk thru tour every year to familiarize ourselves with the plant layout (always building and changing). It's always just before Christmas. The last few years, they've given everybody on the fire dept. a HUGE shoulder duffel bag filled with their products. It's nice of them, but most of it is feminine products like nail polish and lip stick, and womens cologne. Before that, they just wrapped up a box of Stetson for the guys and the few females that we have, got something from their womens line. A lot of the guys didn't like the Stetson, I guess it wasn't the newest high dollar thing to wear. So I'd always get several bottles from those that didn't want it! They used to make an aftershave balm that had cooling ginseng in it. It was a white cream that was sometimes packed with the cologne or aftershave in a gift set. I really liked that on my face.
No, but English Leather did make a scent years ago called Leather: and it was fantastic! I wish I could get something like "New Tires" that would be heavenly! That is funny! I will try a whiff next time I see it.
I got a Stetson gift pack for Xmas that was purchased at Wal Mart. Maybe some stores still have leftovers. Anyway I'm a fan. It's kind of sweet and leathery and yes, it is potent so a little splash will get you there. Warms down nicely on the skin and lasts pretty much all day. My gift set came w/ the A/S, a Cologne and a bottle of Black which is a bit sharper scentwise. I agree that these along w/ English Leather are reminiscent of the 70's. Old school without being old-man.
If and when you ever determine what "that" scent is, please let us know. I'm real curious about what it might be.
Attention Walmart shoppers! To update Gorgo's thread a bit, I found the large bottle of Stetson A/S , 8 oz , now reduced to $5. A bottle sniff and I was not that impressedbut just used it after shaving and the florals really come out. Red Flags are its made by Coty and the name evokes the American Cowboy , however basenoters have talked about it being a woman's fragrance sold to men and yea now I smell the floral part, one basenoter said it should be called " Chantilly" , yea maybe. I have only splashed this on today so I reserve judgement somewhat, I can look back on past posts in the archive and know I've been wrong before but for $5 its a winner. Top notes: Lemon,Lime, Bergamot, Lavender middle notes: Patchouli, Jasmin, Vetiver Amber, Tonka
The stuff disappeared from my local WM shortly after I made the OP. Haven't seen it since. Did get my first good look at the new Wilkinson offerings...apparently they've either duplicated or taken over & rebranded Schick's Slim Twin, as the little Wilkie disposables have the same pushbutton cleanout. Plus 10 DEs for $1.76...a better buy than Dollar General's 5 packs (I'm not particularly picky on my blades).
I'm just so impressed that some folks have such a highly developed and sensitive sense of smell that they can analyze a scent to this extent.
