Trying days found comfort

With my mother passing on last week, finding out she had no burial insurance when all these years she told us she did hence me having to sell off my razor collection, dealing with all of the related duties - then finding my long lost sister whom I haven't seen since I was 7 years old which in turn introduced me to her children, my nieces and nephew that I had no idea existed... I was finally able to get some "me" time tonight. Much needed me time.

There's just something cosmic about a nice, hot shower and a wet shave to end the day... but tonight's shave was about as spectacular as I've ever had to this point in my wet shaving life.

The tools: Dalan D'men Cool Shaving Cream (from Turkey, compliments of the 2011 TSD Grab Box), Voskhod DE blade (from Russia, also compliments of the 2011 TSD Grab Box), a vintage "Fuller" brush restored with a TGN 22mm Super badger hair knot, a 1914 Gillette Aristocrat (the very first Aristocrat model) and capped off with Proraso Liquid Cream Aftershave.

I just really can't say anything else about tonight's shave except: Fantastic!

The Dalan D'men Cool Shaving Cream.. wow! Wonderful stuff. I must find out how to get more of this!

I've been wanting to try the Voskhod blades for a while and waited my turn on the TSD Grab Box hoping there'd be some left. Now I've only shaved this one time with a Voskhod but if future shaves are anything like this first shave, I've found myself a new blade.. even better than the BIC blades that I hold in very high regard.

The 1914 Gillette Aristocrat.. one of the few pieces I'm keeping from my collection. And since I'm keeping it, I decided to put it into my rotation and I'm glad I did. I paid out the nose for this beautiful razor and after having used it now, I can say it was worth every penny.

Now time to have an ice cold Lazy Magnolia Southern Pecan beer and read a good book. Hope everyone has a great week and great shaves! ::git

Trying time indeed. My Daddy passing .. tore me apart.

It's the times we get to carry out a routine, enjoy it, and want to do it again that make us feel human.

Carry on my Friend and Enjoy what you can, it is those moments that we will remember ... ;)

    Sorry for the loss...

Been there, more than once and it's easy to get enveloped in all the things and people that need tending to.. but so do you, so the time to be nice to yourself can often work wonders as well as give you precious time to be introspective. You can lose track of what is really happening around and to you.

    Warm regards..

    M

More prayers coming from here. May you feel both the pain of the loss and the joy of the time you had together.

I'm grateful that this silly little hobby of ours gave you some time of comfort. It is the meaningful moments like those that keep me so strongly tied to this community.

Jody, I can relate, it's tough losing a parent. Sounds like you found some family though, which is encouraging.
