Well after about a month last night I had my best shave yet a true BBS. I used a 49 Superspeed W/Derby (first time trying this blade) and my VDH soap. Finally getting the building lather part down and also my Shave tecnique. So for you new guys still trying to put it all together Dont Give Up.....anyways just thought id share my story....
Glad to hear the derby's worked for you. I find they are nicest, and the most comfortable about the 2nd or 3rd shave in. I usually get 6 or 7 shaves with them. I do notice they seem to give a bit of a "pulling hair effect" even when new when you draw the razor across your face too slowly. I nearly never nick myself with them, and have yet to get razorburn, even when I go aggressively after that BBS shave. I love the smoothness of Gilette 7'oclock yellows and feathers, but after using for a few days, my face is not happy with me. I seem to constantly be going back to the derby's. And for under $8 for 100 SHIPPED on the 'bay, they are hard to beat pricewise. As always, YMMV.
Keep it up! It's really nice when you find that sweet spot and have a great shave. Now you will get to enjoy them for the rest of your life!
