I got the nerve to hone up one of my straights after a few tips from my barber. I did two WTG passes on my cheeks for a test. I dont think I hit it just right but oh so close. He told me to bring one in the next time I got a hair cut and he would look at it. Not BBS or even DFS but its a start, right.
And so the story begins This has been said many times, "Shaving with a straight razor is a journey" I hope yours is along the soft path and and you enjoy the entire thing...
Just keep at it and be smart about it and you'll be fine. I just unpacked my str8s a few days ago after more than a month and gave it a go. Probably my best str8 shave to date; I probably have 50 under my belt now. Keep at it and learn from your mistakes (and other's!).
Takes time..slow n steady.."Wins the race"..the more often you keep using your straight razors..the more your hands will be "trained"..took me 4 months to get the proper technique/angle..then it got slightly quicker everytime..now im about 20minutes and BBS This video gave me more confidence when I finally went all in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mK3I1utxgNM ST
It is truly a learned art, that once accomplished will provide you with pleasure for a life time. Have fun, Lynn
