I think the world of these Rapiras because although they are very sharp, they give very COMFORTALE and smooth shaves. The Eveline Sensitive cream smells soooo nice, and it gives a ton of rich lather which leaves my skin feeling fantastic. The Eveline Aloe aftershave gel has about the same scent, and has some of the best skincare I ever experienced. My dear friend Dmitry sent me these treasures which are made in Poland, and marketed for Russia. ;) :D

Well 2 passes and a touch-up later, I'm bangin' a gong, beating my chest, swingin' from trees and throwing some barrels....Thank You Eversharp!!!

Lloyd, if I had a gong in the house, I wouldn't be able to bang it, because my wife and daughter are still sleeping! :happy102 I think the Rapiras are about the same as the Voskhods. :)

    Razor: Rolls

Excellent shave from an ancient Rolls (30s). I got this Rolls from the Bay and just kept it for quite a while. I usually tear them down right after I get'em but this old razor (80 yrs) had obviously been well used and well maintained for generations maybe. So I left it unmolested and just put it up. Eventually, I went about a cleanup and restore but with the idea that I’d keep the original parts. Damn, it had an original thick leather strop in great condition and a thick hone, again in great shape. Both blades were and are perfect, 80 years, wow. The case is pretty scratched up from years of counter stropping and the nickel is mostly warn from the stropping handle. It's, hands down, one of my favorites, a great shaver in spite of the crappy collapsible handle. Did I mention it's a stainless steel series 3?

    Hot shower
    TOBS sandalwood soap
Face lathered (first real attempt and it worked out great)
Gillette Fusion (don't judge got a call for brunch had to get ready in 10 min)
Arko Adventure aftershave cream (my favorite cream for dry weather)

The Gillette shaved surprisingly well. Very smooth however some rough spots that i can get with a DE without getting bumps. O well for a very fast shower shave it was really good.

    • Razor: Timor
    • Blade: Rapira Swedish Supersteel
    • Brush: Penchetta 26-SB
    • Cream: TOBS Almond
    • Aftershave: Ogallala Bay Rum

The Timor is quite mild, the jury is still out on that one...

The Futur is a big honking razor, but is surprisingly maneuverable. Day two with TOBS Avocado and I still like it. The scent isn't overly strong, but it is a rich creamy lather and my face feels great after using it.

Like you, I enjoy an icy cold rinse.
I've notice our city water starting to warm up a bit with Spring at full throttle. I keep a bottle of water in the fridge and use that for my final splash after my shave. Almost time to start using it.

Shave Of The Day - April 17th, 2011

    • TSD SubZero Pre-Shave Balm
    • Hot Shower
    • Vintage Butterscotch Horse Hair Brush
    • Tet-A-Tet Shave Cream ~ :freezing
    • Schick Platinium D/E Razor
    • 7a.m. Blade ~ Day 1
    • Thayers Witch Hazel/Osage Rub Blend
    • Tet-A-Tet Aftershave Balm ~ :freezing

Felt a little let down by the Tet-A-Tet products, while the cream and balm worked nicely, there just wasn't the "WOW!" factor I was hoping for after reading so much about them.

I guess I was expecting a more satisfying menthol blast, but in the end it just wasn't there, and I would rate the menthol effect along the lines of Proraso green.

    4 blades.

Bill, all mentholized Russian products has mild cooling effect without that 'menthol kick'. They're been placed 'to cool down and calm the skin', so has no that 'freezing cold boost'... Is it good or bad, who knows...
