Here's video of our tornado today, the one I talked about in another thread.

This was when it first formed and then it crossed the interstate, I-20, in Clinton. It picked up cars in a bank parking lot and dropped them 500 yards away into the middle of I-20. Tore the entire roof off of the same bank. The bank employees locked themselves in the vault. Leveled the Popeye's Chicken. Major damage to the Home Depot. Wiped out an Exxon. Hundreds of homes damaged or destroyed. This tornado stayed on the ground from where it began in Clinton, Mississippi all the way into Western Alabama damaging or leveling everything in its path. Local video playing on TV shows it as it went across our very large reservoir essentially turning it into a huge water spout. All in all, I think the final count on tornados in Mississippi today was 12. So far no deaths in Mississippi that I've heard of.

And these guys... wow. How did these storm chasers even know to be in Clinton, Mississippi? It's not like we're Oklahoma and have hundreds and huge tornados all of the time. But there they were, in the very right spot to film it all.

They uploaded it as tornado in Jackson but this was Clinton and where it started before it moved into Jackson about 10 miles away.

Tornadoes are indeed fascinating! I just watched twister the other night, one of my favorite movies, don't think I'd be interested in being a chaser though.

    Amazing stuff, indeed.

And the storm chasers are probably all the way from closer to this area, following it all along....well, leading it actually, I'd bet :D

Two weeks ago we watched the new tornado IMAX at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. We had to laugh when we saw/heard it narrated by Bill Paxton. As soon as we got home, we popped in Twister.
