Me too. I've found that for those of us of with some color, d/e or str8 shaving can eventually rid us of our genetic predisposition to bumps and ingrowns. The key is to cut the hair at the surface and not below it. During my first 6 months of d/e shaving I regularly used acne cleansing pads and acne cream to get the bumps under control. Once under control and with quality shaving I have had minimal need for acne products. (I still use head Lube's clear head after a head shave though, who wants to risk bumps on their head) The software your using seems ok, but I prefer a shaving brush that is more scrubby to lift the hairs up. It takes time to get the razor bumps under control, but switching to a D/e is a great start. Just be patient. It takes some time to clear up.
Thanks for the welcome. When you say a scrubby brush...do you know of any off the top of your head to get an idea of what to look for? I currently use witch hazel between finishing shaving and splashing cold water on my face.
Welcome to TSD, Geran. Ingrowns are a real bother, although I am lucky that I never had too many of them, because I've been a traditional wetshaver all my life. When I was a kid still living in Israel, my Dad bought me a cheap brush, DE and blades, which I cannot remember the names of at the time, and I started out. I've been shaving since I'm 14. My favorite razor is a 1940's Super Speed, and I generally use an Omega Wooden Handle. My favorite blades are either Rapiras or Voskhods, and I have a couple of HUNDRED creams and soaps!
I find it hard to beat an Omega Boar brush for a great inexpensive scrubby type brush...usually around $10...I'm using a 10029 baby pro which cost less than $10 and stores in a prescription bottle for traveling, makes great lather, and is nice and scrubby for exfoliating your skin...But I belive all the Omega Boars must be...Just pick one you like the size and shape...
