and it's nice to meet y'all. I'm an old fogie, retired, and spend a lot of my time reading about shaving related stuff, and according to SWMBO, buying far too much. I also am trying to teach myself how to carve/shape a brush handle so I can build my own. I recently caught the jumbo brush fever and am in the process of trying 28mm~30mms. I tried a Kent BK 12, and decided that it was not for me. I'm a face latherer but will bowl lather if forced to it. Brushes are works of art and they own my soul, totally. I am commissioning one that will combine some butterscotch backgammon chips and white stag horn. It will be with a TGN 30mm knot. My newest addition and my best brush so far is a Rooney Heritage 2XL, an absolute magic brush. I have a Simpson Duke 3, an M&F with another in the mail, a few Rudy Vey customs, and also a couple that I have restored. One of my restores is a butterscotch with a Shavemac D01 knot. I have been using DEs exclusively until last week when I tried an injector. I immediately ran out and bought an "E" type. What can I say, I like butterscotch. Straights are not for me due to some meds I take that thins my blood, and I cannot for the life of me, master SEs. I tried thrice and still no luck. I have been active at another forum but lately decided that I need to expand my horizons. Anyway, enough for now. It's time to go poke around. The image is of smaller version of the brush I am trying to get made.
Welcome Hex. I really like the colors of that brush. It looks like orange and antler with most of the bark polished off? Did you make that or have it made? Either way, it's a nice looking brush.
Welcome to TSD! This is the best wet shave board on the planet! Thanks for the intro post and the pix of that sweet looking brush!
That is a model that I liked from a fellow in Canada (huck1680 at B&B). He is making me one similar to it. I had bought a TGN 30mm knot and some backgammon chips with the idea of gluing them together and shaping them into a brush. Well, my skills are not up to it and after I saw Hucks work, I asked him to make it for me and he agreed. I sent them on 5/7 so I hope they get there soon.
