I have a bit of a problem. You see, this wet shaving thing, with all it's razors, blades, brushes, soaps, creams, mugs, scuttles, after shave balms, lotions, milks, etc, etc, etc is just too damn fun. When I was using my Mach 3, I was using a mug with a puck of Williams and a cheap boar brush. I thought it was great..............little did I know. Not only was I lathering totally incorrect, but I wouldn't even call it a lather. I would shave in the shower about every three or four days and do it as quick as possible with absolutely no attention to detail. At some point I came across a Mantic video and decided to try a DE. Well, you all know what happens next. RAD, SCAD, SSAD, etc, etc, etc. Now, I shave every other day at the least and not only that but I want to shave every day even though I don't really need to. In fact sometimes I shave in the morning and all I'm looking forward to doing when I get home from work is to shave again. (like last night ) This is crazy!! :happy102 I am fairly new to the DE, with about 5 months under my belt and I'm a bit worried that I might start shaving in the morning then bring my gear to work and have a nice leisurely shave at lunch only to go home take another shower and shave before bed. :happy102 Sometimes I just go into the bathroom, open up the medicine cabinet and just look at my stuff. Is there a doctor in the house, I think I need help.
Haha yessir. I like to go into my bathroom and open up some soaps and just smell them. Some of them are wonderful P160 YUMMY
Hello, my name is Brian. (TSD: HI Brian) I'm a shave addict.... I used to only shave when I had to due to the horrid bumps, razor burn, and raw face I would get from the crappy high priced razor wanna be's I used to use. Now that I have several D/E's I too find myself shaving every morning after my shower and again after my shower at night. The problem is, I don't think I want help, I just love the smell and feel after a great shave! What to do, what to do?!
I look forward to my daily shaves. I think I like it even more now that I am using only a few products and really getting to know them instead of something different everyday. I know that makes me the odd man out.
I won't say Who does this..... But .... When you're in the bathroom and you just pick up a brush ... any if the nine you have stashed around and randomly start whipping up a soap or cream 'just to see how it's going to perform' with no intention of shaving at all ... you've got it bad. Of course, I've done this myself.
Funny you should say that. SWMBO and I were just talking about this saving money the other day. The savings part is true. IF you look at it in terms of the way you used to shave. A can of goo and some cartridge blades. I would go through about 6 cans a year and 100 or so mach 3 cartridges. I have no Idea what that comes to in a year but I figure 3 bucks for a can of goo and around 3 bucks per cartridge so you are right at $318 per year in shaving stuff. So if I add in the $14 I spent on my first ebay super speed and the $25 for my Col Conk pure badger brush and $6 for my fist soap choice (col conk bay rum) if I needed 4 of those in a year that would be $24, Then .18 per blade for the Astra SPs that I bought you come up to a total of $81 for my first year of shave gear. (if I would have only changed the gear I used instead of going nuts) SO the second year would be $42. So the savings is something that could be real. When I started out I hated to shave and the cost is something that I also hated because I hated to shave. Now that I love to shave and can't get enough of it I don't care about the savings as much because who wants to save money on things you love to do? So at least for me it comes down to the bottom line of spending money on things I like to do or spending money on things I hate to do. It is not hard to pick a winner there.
It's always good to know that you're not alone. I've done that twice today after I grated some soaps into new mugs.
I agree! I know about all the feelings stated here! lol Glad to know we're all kind of alike! :happy102
The world lost a great and successful crack dealer when Mantic decided to make shaving videos. I bought a gillette fat boy on ebay, like, three years ago to save money on blades. I succeeded in not using the darn thing for almost a year due to an over-abundance of alcohol and disposable razors. I didn't even know how to use the dang thing. I went on the internet and found a bunch of websites and videos and things about old school shaving and the rest is history. It's horrible and wonderful. I gave up drugs to get the job I have now, but the addictive tendencies merely transferred to the wet shaving hobby. Which is a good thing as it is much easier to explain to my wife. "You've been shaving again." "No i haven't." "I can smell it on you. You stink of Proraso and Clubman." "No, I just went to the barbershop to see Dan." "LIAR! YOU WERE TRADING BLADES AND TALKING TO THOSE WEIRDOS ON THE INTERNET AGAIN!" But at least I won't get busted for having a nickel-bag of Astras in my car.
