Wow! I just found the sweet spot for lathering this cream. Working very nicely for me. Well done JoAnna!
Nice did it take lots of water or not much? lots of elbow grease or no? I have some on the way and i am looking forward to it.
Well to start with YMMV. For me it takes a little more product than I use with say Proraso, but not a lot more. I start with a pretty dry brush and get the lather started in the bowl adding a little water as I go. Then I start lathering to my wet face and boom, mounds of thick creamy lather. It took me a couple of tries to find it (as it does for any thing new to me) but the results are well worth it!
Ya that is what i thought. Thanks for the info. I think it might take more product just because of the lack of lather increasing ingredients... I think i read that somewhere.
It does take more product, for me roughly twice the amount of TOBS, but it gives a very good shave, I like mine.
Well the more you get the more scent you get... and then you use faster so you can pick up a new flavor that tickles your nose.
I noticed that in the straight shave video you made. Actually that's what convinced me to order it. That was some great looking lather. I don't use quite that much but as always ymmv.
I'm looking forward to trying it on my next order from the Den store. I've got some sample soaps to try, and when I figure out my favorite I'll order it in the wheat cream.
Love mine. I am quite the brat when it comes to my cream. Still have some soaps but love the wheat. It is my favorite. My birthday is coming up and Katie told me to order more. So JoAnna get ready for an order soon.
I just ordered more myself, hopefully JoAnna does a 4th of July sale again and I can get even more. The wheat has grown on me, just wish I could get a bigger tub!
OK, now I gotta go back and change what I said about the amount of product I use. I just started using this cheap boar brush I picked up at a thrift store (3$). It is in almost new condition, I think it came with a kit probably, red and cream colored with a black ring around the top, barbasol maybe? Anyway I really work it hard and grind it into the bowl and it makes all kinds of thick lather. Now I use no more product than I do with any other cream and get more lather. This has worked out to be a great combination for me, very happy with it!
That is wonderful. So the more elbow grease you put in the better the lather. I hope Canada Post can get its stuff sorted out. I have some tubs waiting somewhere for me.
It's bad enough to order something online and have to wait for regular postage but to know it's on it's way and still get delayed by something out of your and the suppliers control?:angry019 I just got notification that mine shipped yesterday and i should have it tomorrow. Cant wait! (sorry Regan).
It can be a pain. Most things take longer to get to Canada anyways. It is ok enjoy the cream and there better be a review of the scents after a couple shaves. Which scents did you order?
I ordered the Sandalwood cream with menthol. My first experience with real shave cream was AOS sandalwood and I've been chicken to try any other scent. I'll branch out with my next order, though.
Ah I have a sandalwood bourbon vanilla mix on the way. I must say that I do enjoy sandalwood. It is a interesting scent as many makers have different sandalwood scents. I also have some gingerbread on the way. MMM have to love that sweet spicy scent.
So far I've tried two different sandalwoods (AOS & Mama Bear) and, while very different, I have liked both. Sandalwood bourbon vanilla sounds fantastic, cant wait to hear your thoughts on it. As for the gingerbread: anything that may make the wife want to eat my face cant be bad, right?:sexe
Well i have used TOBS sandalwood soap. Then bourbon vanilla aftershave milk and WOW did my face smell wonderful. I must say my GF loved it. As for the gingerbread I do enjoy it but as you said my gf loves the scent and recommended it. So that bumped it to the top of my list.
