For some reason, I can really pick the individual scents out on this one.
Wood - I think you're right on the cedar, but it's far from the dominate scent, so I'm surprised you're getting this and nothing else.
French Verbena - OK, I only know it's specifically French Verbena from the ingredient list.
    Lavender
Lemon - Not sure if it's lemon or a lemony herb like lemon grass.

Definitely a great soap. On value, for the quality it's good but at a little over twice the $/once vs. Arko I can't say it's the best value.

For me it's definitely Van Der Hagen Deluxe. You can get a dozen pucks for under $20 on Amazon. I love it. It lathers like nobody's business. I didn't move to it because of price initially. My tub of TOBS cream ran out and I picked up a puck at Walgreens to tide me over. Overnight the weepers I had experienced with my shaves disappeared. I would love to try some of the more expensive soaps, but I don't really see the need.

Mama Bear, no more than two, maybe three swirls on the soap is plenty for three passes, lathers like the Swiss Alps.

For me personally, the bang-for-buck soap has been (since I started shaving period) De Vergulde Hand. Helps being Dutch there, and my dad using the same soap. About $3/3,50 a stick/cup, and really some of the awesomest soaps I have used so far. Now that I moved abroad it'll amount to slightly more, but I never order single units of anything anyway, so shipping is relatively not that much.

I heard it's not a readily available soap in the US, though. :happy068

I love Irisch Moos. Maybe not inexpensive ($15?) but mine has lasted for months. Woodsy? Yeah...some describe it as Irish Spring-like, but I think its more complex than that.

LOVE IM's efficacy and fragrance. :happy005 Oh, and you get the best stick container ever.

I give my vote to VDH, the stuff is cheap, gives a great lather and I enjoy the scent.

I second what a couple guys have said. Go with Mitchells Wool Fat, just finished my first puck of it. Good stuff.

I like C.O Bigelow and J.M Frasers original. They are prices right and produce excellent lather and protection.:whacky011

Arko and Speick, the latter having a greater scent and lasts slightly longer in terms of usage.Get both and see for yourself, IMHO they are too different to be compared.I have to disagree about Cade, it diminishes so fast, it is not going to last long, and it lacks the thick, protective lather of Arko and Speick.
If you want to invest for a soap that will easily last 5-10 years, get the Martin De Candre from France.Of course, for the price of it, you can get a small truck that is full of Arko, but it is way superior than anything else on Earth, as it has a very simple formula, no tallow, no lanolin, no ingredients that can cause irriration. The high quality jar might be perfect for many soaps afterwards. But having one soap to last so many years, this is my best idea of the best bang for the buck.
