A couple things: First, I try to be as eco friendly as I can without being nutty about it, but our rather large family needed a gas-hog to pack us all around so this big ole V8 Hemi was kind of necessary. Second, I’m not usually a fan of white as a vehicle color but this is what they had and it’s growing on me. Anyway 08 Jeep Commander. Only had 29k miles on it…literally owned by a little grandmother who barely drove it. LTD edition so fully tricked out with toys, bells and whistles. My first Jeep and so far loving everything about it except trips to the pump and Colorados excessive taxes, charges, fees and so on! <sigh> It’s a nice ride but not that practical in today’s economy. Had to be done though for better or worse.
Looks like a nice one. I moved to Colorado from California. Believe me, the fees and taxes could be worse.
SWEET !!! And you say she only drove it back and forth from the ABC store... Hey man, Brians right...Taxes and fees could be worse...Here in Turkey they tax you by the cc's so even a large 4 cylinder might cost $2000 a year just for the Engine tax. Theres another tax if its not deisel...and gas is almost $5 a litre, for diesel which cost less than benzyl (gas)...I forgot the engine tax for an 8 cylinder gasoline motor, because no one I know can afford it. I was at an Aston-Martin dealer the other day, and the tax just for the motor tax, not sales tax or personal property, on the 12 cylinder for only one year, was enough to pay cash for a back up Renault...a nice top of the line one! :happy102 Its a beautiful ride, I hope it takes good care of you and your family...and keeps you all safe and comfortable...
Congrats Shep. My parents have an 2008 Commander in black. They didn't go with the large Hemi though. The straight 6 isn't bad, but it's a little small for a truck that size. I had a '93 Cherokee Sport and then an 2001 Grand Cherokee. Both were great cars. Enjoy.
Very Nice. I spent most of my life in Colorado, but I cannot remember what it cost to register a vehicle. I can tell you that it is a huge shock to go from CO to NE and register a vehicle. In NE, you pay personal property tax on top of the license and registration. Additionally, in Sarpy county anyway, you pay wheel and tire tax of $25.00 per tire and $25.00 per wheel AND they charge you a tax collection fee!
A) Wow, nice ride! I had (and sorely miss) a Jeep SportTruck, was a great and fun ride B) I would like to interject that I really like my new-to-me '02 Bonneville, getting purt' near 30 miles to the gallon on that 9 year old, 3.8 liter engine! C) Wow! at all the crazy taxes and superfluous taxes y'all have mentioned! Jeez
Thanks fellas. Some friends advised me to replace the air filter w/ a K&N washable and to run a bottle of injector cleaner through, both of which I did. Seems to have helped squeeze a few more miles per tank out of it so pretty happy about that. So far, so good. Brakes are squeaking a bit which seems odd for a vehicle w/ 30k miles on it. Anyone else notice this being a trait in Jeep or do I need new pads already?
I have been using K&N filters for years with many good results. I use Sea Foam in the tank every now and then to keep the fuel shstem clean. As for the squeaky brakes; it could just be brake dust. Yank the wheels off the front and give the rotors a spin while spraying brake cleaner on the rotors... see if that helps. While the front wheels are off, check the pad thickness and make sure the squeaker tabs are not rubbing on the rotors. If they are, replace the pads. Though if the Jeep has that low of miles it is most likely brake dust. Think about the squeaking that trash trucks and school busses make; the brakes are not bad, they just stop a lot and generate lots of brake dust that builds up and produces a lot of squeaking.
