A problem that likely no one else has.

I don't know if there's an answer to this, but I guess I'm wondering if anyone else has the same problem.

I have very, very dark beard hair naturally. A shade away from black. Literally. Whenever I shave, be it blade and cream or electric, even if I get the smoothest-feeling shave in the world, you can still see the root of every hair under my skin. Almost like a permanent 5 o'clock shadow, without any scruff that can be felt. I could always wax, but that hurts. And I'd have to grow it out for a week every time before waxing (I hate my beard, don't ask).

What would help? Tanning? That's about all I can think of. Is there a term for this "thing"?

    Thanks.

I have that as well. Many people do. I shave and still looks like i need to sometimes.

If you really want to deal with that you can apply make up... I believe that Tanning would help as it will make your skin darker, which is closer to your beard... however the negatives from tanning are not worth it in my opinion.

Waxing your fax is the worst. The beard hairs are too thick and very sensitive. Ever had to pull one or two out and it stings pretty hard.

I have no solution I use. I just deal with it and look like I have some scruff at all times.

Thanks. Also, another thing is that if I don't shave for a week, and then shave either electric or blade, I get a clean shave without those visible roots. Anyone know why that might be?

There is a Nair for men, from what I understand it works just like the womens in getting rid of the hair and for a time the root. But make sure you follow the directions to the T, my wife said one of the nurses she works with put some on her husbands head as a joke, but left it on for too long and now he is bald. I don't know if thats true or not, but I have heard women burning their legs from it being on too long. I'm sure one of the ladies could answer that better than me. Otherwise have you thought of trying the Just for Men beard hair dye?

    lol,

I have the same issue, even when I get a bbs(rare). I do have a darker complexion and I have noticed that at the end of summer the hair is less noticeable with a tan, But it never really goes away.

I don't mind it... I have a thick dark beard... eventually it might thin down and become grey/white. So be happy with all you got eventually might not have any left. (like your head)

I have the same problem...except I can do you one better :) As long as I shave, mine shows as yours does. However, I tend to keep a full beard in winter and a van dyke in summer (never completely clean shaven...perish the thought!). The thing is, when short, mine is jet black (with some white spots in it now, though) but as it grows out, it goes from black at my chin to Irish red at my cheeks transitioning to brown at the sideburns and back to near-black once my head hair starts. if I keep it say at a #2 guard length (1/4 inch), it will be dark, but longer than that and hello redbeard again.

I agree...embrace your MANLY beard and be glad you can grow it at all. I have friends who grow as much of a beard in 2 months as I do in a week and still have empty patches.

    Good luck

Or here's a thought: Start wearing pastel-coloured shirts and white suits, change your name to "Sonny", play Eagles music at a loud volume in your vehicle, and kick some drug dealer's ass. No-one will notice the 5 o'clock shadow then....

I have gotten white hairs in my beard, for me anyway they are thicker and tougher than the normal black hairs, yay!

    Grumble:eek:

That can also happen... I have some red patches well more of a light brown. So it isnt too solid. Still noticeable and some days I wish it was different but you have to embrace what ya got attached to your head :D. All I know is that I get to shave lots so that is one upside now. :happy102

LMAO yeah I grew the beard out so I had less to shave, and it gets less everyday as the hair on my head keeps falling out. :transport024 they are winning, I figure another 10 yers or so I will look lie all of them :-p

I have the same issue, it doesn't bother me much. I know my BBS is BBS-nobody looking will. I long ago stopped making my daughter and wife feel my smoothness-it didn't take many eye-rolling episodes to get the hint. My BBS is now just for me and I guess my Shave board friends.

We'll rejoice in your BBS-ieness with you. I've already noticed my wife not being as excited as she first was. But we both get a huge kick when my 23 month old rubs his hands all over his face like his daddy does. :love029:
