I just wanted to thank everyone for all the information they have posted on these forums. It's really helped me out a lot. I started out looking for a better, and cheaper way to shave that wouldn't leave my face burning every time I broke out in sweat. After scouring the internet I found that almost all the information seemed to be pointing towards wet shaving, with a DE razor. After a lot of research I finally I bought the Lord L6 razor, and the VDH shave set, just to see if I liked it (Also, I think I just might be cheap). Even going with the less expensive stuff, I can't argue with the results. It was one of the best shaves that I have had in years. It was not perfect, I'll admit that. I don't know if I let my beard get too long (4 days) or if it was just the quality of the blade that came with the razor, but I did have some tugging where my beard seems thickest, underneath my lips, on either side of my chin. Still, at least it didn't hurt to shave, like every other razor I've ever used. I'm sure with experimentation, things will only get better with time. I look forward to hanging around. Again, Thank you for all the information you have provided.

Welcome, Don't worry about being cheap. In my family it is an artform (scottish heritage). I was tired of paying outrageous prices for cartridges which is why I made the change, and I never looked back.
Now that I've had some time to look around things, read some history, look at pretty pictures, I must admit that everyone's enthusiasm is infectious. I find myself itching to go look around at the local antique/junk shops. My wife will just love it! (sarcasm)
