Saturday: Omega Wooden Handle Super Speed/day 4 Florena SC Keri unscented moisturizer Booster Mosswood AS A very smooth and comfortable shave this morning. The Florena cream smells great and lathers perfectly so the blade glides just right. My wife smelled the Booster Mosswood, and she said "ah, sweetie - why don't you stop wearing that "old-man" stuff, and start wearing your Armani Black Code that I bought you?" I told her, "Corinne, my love - I find that this "old-man" stuff suits me perfectly". The truth is, I hate Armani Black Code. I find the Personna blades don't retain their sharpness nearly as well as the Rapiras or Voskhods.
Saturday, September 03, 2011 Pre-shave soap: Musgo Real Glyce Lime Razor: EJ Chatsworth Blade: Treet Durasharp Brush: Vulfix 2234 Super Badger Soap or Cream: Proraso Cream A/S: Dickinson's Witch Hazel, Proraso Splash I don't think there is a better way to start a warm, humid day than a great cooling shave! And this morning's shave was just that--the Chatsworth/Treet combo did an excellent job, nicely assisted by the Proraso cream. The Proraso splash was, of course, a fine way to close out the shave.
Saturday... no prep other than wet face and neck, no lather bowl, just "roughing it", I will be on a camping trip in two weeks and will have a wedding to go in the middle of the camping trip. Figured it would be time for a practice run. I decided to go with something mild to shave with so that I wouldn't have too much irritation to sport at the wedding. Magic Shavette w/ fresh Voskhod Merkur Progress on 2.5 w/ Near fresh Voskhod TGN Silvertip Badger AOS Lavender Preshave Oil Truefitt & Hill Lavender Shave Cream Nivea Sensitive Post Shave Balm Brute AS Well this is kind of a shocker for me. for the first time since puberty, there are two patches on my cheeks where I can't see any trace of stubble. I can't even feel it. And for the first time since joining TSD,I truly understand what BBS means. And I want more. All this started with me obsessively stropping a straight for the last 4 days, hoping that by some miracle it might become shave ready. It didn't. But I was determined to have some form of straightness on my face so out came the "magic shavette". I'd only tried it with personna which I now know I don't like, so I loaded it up with a voskhod and did one pass WTG. No cuts, no drama. Next pass ATG (not the neck though). Face half lathered, razor in hand, I actually stopped shaving, and left the bathroom to go find my girlfriend and make her feel my face. It was that good. Due to my limited skill with a straight I had to half-finish the pass, then clean up with the Merkur. But I was blown away that what no DE of mine could achieve in 4+ passes, this wannabe straight razor did in 2. I can't wait for the real thing.
