Post shave: finished with my handcrafted Menthol AS

After tearing my face up (well, everything is relative right?) yesterday I decided to take a break from blade testing and return to my roots for a week. It was a very enjoyable, and easily attained BBS, and I'll do this for the entire week! This will be hard to take!

Tomorrow the blade will be in a different SE razor.

    20248 Omega Pro Boar
    Speick Stick
    Dickenson's Witch Hazel
    Nivea Sensitive Balm
    Grey Flannel edt

Voskhods have won the blade war, won't be using any other as they are definately the best for my skin. I'd forgotten how much of a lather machine the pro boars are, man they whip it up fast. This was my first time face lathering with this brush and it definately won't be my last. What a deal for a $12.00 dollar brush.

    Hi :)

I bought the button in 2009 at ikonrazors@gmail.com for 11 bucks plus shipping. Here`s a pic for size comparison; right in the picture, the extended version!

battle.munky Has the menthol.munky on his back!

I have to say that I much prefer the short knob to the long, it just seems to "go" better with it. The long is better than the plastic but the button short is better than both IMO. Excellent pic too.

Well I had a small bout of BAD and picked up the Shea Moisture Shave Brush for cheap when I was at Target, wanting to try a bristle brush. Although it shed a few hairs (first use so no big deal) and I found myself adding a few drops of moisture every now and then, it did a fine job overall and I think it will prove to be well worth the purchase price.

I only went two WTG passes today and stopped, having achieved a DFS! I am really pleased with the Shark SS blade so far it has been kind to my face while yielding three nice shaves. I'm uncertain whether I should try for a fourth or start over with a fresh blade tomorrow.

I enjoyed the Proraso soap today, was in the mood for menthol and it scratched that itch quite nicely.

Comments: A fine shave, with some products simple and known, but really able to give a good feeling. The Williams is a bit tricky in Navarra, maybe this puck misses the streets of New York were it was bought, it has required some work to give lather enough, but finally I have arrived to the end of the shaving road smoothly. A warm hug to the people in the US.

That brush from Target is fondly referred to around here as The Dridecker. Bill picked one up a while back, did a great review on it, and got a lot of us onto it. It's a great brush for the money.

Don't forget he found Target's for a lot of us that had them in stock too...I never would have found mine if it weren't for Bill telling me what store and which aisle to pick it up from. :happy088:

Crazy good shave today. Aside from a teensy little place I missed on my mustache, I had the perfect shave today! I'm going to go back and hit it just to be thorough a bit later. My first time with the Old Spice SC today, It performed well enough. Its good to know there is another option out there even though I'm beginning to get away from SCs.

easily 4.75 blades out of 5 today!

EDIT: Forgot to post my SOTD pic!

Try face lathering with the Shea Moisture Brush. :)

Have something handy to mop up the spray! It's nuts!

I was PIFed one and the previous owner told me about that characteristic of it after it was on the way. I face lather exclusively. I wound up PIFing it out to a bowl latherer and he loves the thing! It's great at bowl lathering.

    8/8 W&B restored by Glen
    Vie-Long horsehair brush
    Painted ceramic bowl
    Tabac SC

Very relaxing and smooth shave. The first time I ever got almost BBS with a straight. The tube of Tabac is close to it's end, so I'll open the soap very soon!

    Superior 70 Bay Rum (Boosted)

Everything came together to provide me with an excellent shave this evening. The razor is mild, yet effective. I enjoyed my first use of Klar Kabinett. It has a light floral rose scent, rich creamy lather, and leaves the skin feeling nice. A splash of boosted Superior 70 brought it all together.

Definitely one of my more enjoyable shaves.

    Sunday 11 September

This was a morning shave but I have not had time to post today with the picture.

    Starbucks Italian Roast, Black
    Proraso pre shave balm
    Proraso white
    Omega Boar 10015, face lather
Gillette Slim set to 8 (like steve said), with a Lord Platinum (D1)
    Alcolado Glacial-Proraso ASB

This was a pretty good shave, I did as Steve suggested and bumped up the adjustable one more than I was really comfortable with to 8 the other day, and it wasn't a great shave. I left it there this morning and the shave was pretty good, but about 1/2 an hour latter there was some red bumps and irritation on my neck and it stung when I began to sweat. I think 8 was too high for me at this point, but without Steve I never would have known that, so thanks. The proraso white soap just has some great skincare properties and 12 hours later my face feels great. I tried for a better picture today and cleaned up the razor a little bit. It will have to get a through scrubbing tomorrow.
