I had to give the price a zero, because it cost me nothing--I received it in a tradeoff with a fellow member of this group. Valobra almond has a big similarity to Cella Crema da Sapone, and to P 160, which is another Italian made shaving soap. It has a beautiful almond scent, and delightful, rich, lather, which makes this soap think it's a cream. Your razor will glide smoothly, and easily against your face for a close, clean shave with NO razor burn or irritation.
Pretty nice shaving soap Nice putty substance that can be molded into any shape. It certainly is very similar to Cella Crema Sapone but with two main differences. It has a more powerful almond scent than Cella Crema Sapone, however, I find it does not lather as well as Cella Crema Sapone. Overall it is a pretty nice shaving soap but I probably will stick with other more latherable shaving soaps.
I picked up a brick of this soap at Pasteur's Pharmacy (or was it Cambridge Chimists?) in NYC the other day. As has been said, the scent is a very pleasing almond note, but its not punch-in-the-head strong. I thought it lathered easily and gave a great shave. Certainly as good as the high end English soaps. At $12, that's not too shabby. Jordan
Decent, but not great Ease of Lather - This is much more difficult for me to lather than P.160 or any other of my soaps, including MWF. Life Span - Once I manage a good lather, it stays Moisturizing - Pretty good, not MWF good, but close Protection - The least protective of my soaps. Scent - A very natural almond, not sweet but high quality almond Price - Middle of the road price for a middle of the road soap Buy Again - No. I'll continue to use it, but it's neither a bargain or an outstanding soap.
Dissapointing I finally gave this one a few swirls after all these rave reviews and have to say I'm dissapointed: Lathers well, but it doesn't soften my stubble very well. It almost feels like shaving without lather. Before that I had used the C&E Sienna soap and the shave took less time and the skin also felt less attacked. But with this one I have to go many times over the same area again and again. It's annoying.
