1958 D-1 red dot Fat Boy with original case (cases were bigger than normal Fat Boy cases). Hello Mr. Rare, welcome to my collection! Flea market find this morning! Sooooooooo excited! More pictures to come when I've got more time...
Jody, on the one hand I want to say, "Damn you, Jody. Why can't I find one?" J/K On the other hand, congrats, bud. Great score. I love flea markets. I bought 2 unused Coleman lanterns. An old 228 and an old 200A for $15.00 (that was for both, not each). Plus, an Svea 123 camp stove for $5.oo(they cost about $100.00 new). I'm honestly very happy for you. You appear to have found a cherry one to add to your collection. I got a nice, gold plated, Valet Autostrop for a buck. No box or strop or blades, but the razor is in sweet condition. Now I just need to get some Feather SE blades. Bravo. Owner of a red dot Fatboy? You will be. You WILL be.
Thanks everyone! To everyone who says they never find anything at flea markets, I'll say don't give up. In almost 3 years of collecting/wet shaving this is the first time I've found anything of this nature. I always find the lone Super Speed, gummed up Slim Adjustable or overpriced used brush. In fact, at the very first vendor I perused, that's all he had... 2 black handle Super Speeds, a flare tip Super Speed and a Ranger Tech, all in horrible looking condition. But he also had an Easy Rider Schick Injector razor (yellow handle, Type L6). It was in great shape. Bought it from him for a buck. I've never found anything in the scope of bottom dial/red dot/toggle/abc/mint set... until now. This place is 36,000 square feet and has 120 plus booths. I found the red dot on the next to last booth as I was heading for the exit. So keep checking those places you've been to a hundred times before. Don't give up on them. You never know when it's your turn...
That's all I need. Now you're encouraging me to start hanging around flea markets again. Congratulations! It's good that it was picked up by someone who knew what he was getting. Enjoy!
Excellent score Jody! Great that you're encouraging us all to be out scouring all the flea markets. Gets us out of the house. Wonderful set & we look forward to the photos!
