Personally, I like it in the shave stick form. It fits nicely in my medicine cabinet and makes lathering up a breeze. I agree with you on the fragrance - I couldn't even detect one when I was building the lather. It's there, but faint. I like that, too.

Those the "black ninjas"? If so I like them too. I am still a bit partial to the green permasharps of the 7 O'clock line though, but the ninjas are good too.

  5. Well, this week is an interesting one for me, as I am on travel to Arizona, and experiencing the difference between the softer water at home in north Alabama and the harder water here in Mesa. I'm still getting quality shaves, but there is a noticeable difference in the time and water it takes to build a satisfying rich lather. Anyways, the kit I brought with me is what I am using (and will be using until my return home).

    Weds 12 October

Well here is my morning shave since I am the night shift. As soon as I finished shaving, they said they don't need a night shift so come back in the morning. I am so confused.

    Proraso pre-shave balm
    Mama Bear's awakenings stick
Omega travel boar brush, face lather
Gillette Milord w/ Astra SP (D2)
    Alcolado Glacial-Nivea sensitive balm

I had trouble trying to get into the night shift schedule, so I finally gave up and decided to get a relaxing shave in. Took my time with some great results. Very very smooth, almost BBS, but not quite. I love the awakenings stick, it really wakes you up. It has menthol, tea tree oil, and mint (I think). It does a great job for me and really wakes me up. Great for when I am travelling and on some kind of weird schedule.

As soon as I finished shaving, they said don't come in tonight, come back in the morning. Now I have to see if I can go back to sleep tonight. Well it really was a great shave.

Today was my last shave of year 45. I used a Lord for the first time as it was next on my to try list, and went at it.
Other people don't understand us...who else would take a shower and shave for an hour but us.

But I took my time, long showers, long soaks, and a slow and easy beautiful shave.

Thank you TSD for the best birthday gift ever; teaching me the right way to wet shave.

Onward and upward...at 11:16am EST, I will be 46. And then we can discuss my first shave of year 46.

Wishing all of TSD happy and healthy times.

Slow and steady keeps the face...

There are still a couple tricky angles I struggle to find, but overall it's going great. Even with the razor sharp as it is I rarely shed blood, and although I could've used the cleanup DE pass just a little and sometimes do, the shaves overall are pretty even. The neck is closer than I could ever get with a DE. Interestingly enough, the ATG pass on my neck is no problem if I go slow, but because of my growth pattern it is very difficult for me to get some spots going WTG. There are some ways the razor just doesn't go. But a great shave nonetheless, close and fairly harmless, though my face is a tad magenta. Already pumped for tomorrow.

    Brush: Omega Boar
    Soap: Institut Karite
    A/S: Old Spice

Probably my best straight shave thus far! Three passes with the JM Schmid followed by a partial pass with the polished chrome Futur to smooth out the few areas I didn't quite get with the straight (mostly at the bottom of my neck). Using the Futur for that part of the shave reminded me why it's my favorite DE: it provides such an effortless shave (for me) and get so close! I would class today's shave as a BBS shave for sure! Following up the shave with witch hazel then Old Spice was a great way to start the day!
