    Razor: Wilkinson Sticky
    Blade: Gillette Yellow
    Brush: Thater Porter
    Pre-Shave: Musgo Real Glyce Lime
    Soap: MDC
    A/S: Klar Sandalwood

The MdC lathered easily but I just cannot embrace the scent which, to me, smells a bit like someone tarring a roof on a hot summer day. In any case, the shave itself was excellent and the scent of the soap did not linger (thankfully). A splash of Klar Sandalwood and I am ready for the day.

    65’ Gillette Slim (setting 7)
    Supermax S-Stainless (d1)
    Preshave Oil Blend
    Tabac SS
    Tweezerman Badger
Lucky Tiger Aspen A/S, Afta Fresh Balm
    Zegna Colonia EDT

Took my good old time this morning, unlike many mornings lately. Pampered every step insisting on perfection in every detail. Didn't win any races, but got a full-faced BBS for my trouble. Five Blades, Six-Sigma, No Knicks and Zero Defects! As good and as pleasurable as it gets.

    Saturday

Razors: 6/8 Dovo Best Quality with Black Scales; Merkur Futur
    Blade: Astra (7)
    Brush: Omega Boar
    Soap: Tabac
    A/S: Master Bay Rum
    EDT: Polo

What a perfect opportunity to take a brand new (and new to me) razor for a spin! Saturday is the one day I typically have the time to wait until my hands won't have any problems. I also usually have the opportunity to take my time with my shave because I'm not trying to get out the house by a specific time to miss some of the morning traffic on my way to work. The Dovo was the right choice for me. It's a simple razor, but it really got the job done! The 6/8 turned out to be the right choice as well because the size was well suited to my hand, technique, etc. (developed because of my preference for my JM Schmid 6/8). Effortless 3 pass shave with minimal touch up on the neck with the Futur topped off with Master Bay Rum A/S (for that barbershop scent) and a splash of Polo to start the day out right (Polo is also my wife's favorite).

Good shave. I accidently dropped my Futur this morning when I was cleaning out some old sample bottles and other things from the shave den aka medicine cabinet right above my sink. It broke part of the HOT water knob that it hit. Fortunately, the Futur is ok save for a tiny, almost undetectable until you really look for it ding in the safety bar. Still provided a great shave this morning.

Scott, you know what - there is a Palmolive Classica Naturale from Italy which also gives great lather and performance. It's exactly like the Euro Classic version I used yesterday, but the tube is red, not green. Gib a kik! (Take a look!)

battle.munky Has the menthol.munky on his back!

    • W&B str8
      • beautifully restored (at one point) by Glen (gssixgun) it managed to get a bit of rust on it, even though I oiled it before I put it away. So a little bit of clean up and some stroppin' and she was ready
    • Vulfix 404 boar/badger brush
    • Tabac SS
    • boosted Musgo Real AS
    • battle.munky custom cowhide and denim 2" strop ;)
Figuring I haven't str8 shaved more than once in nearly 6 months, I had a helluva shave. No major issues, nicked my mustache in the same place I always nick myself when I str8 shave, but this shave was very close and very comfortable. I'm not quite BBS but more than half of my face is after a WTG, and ATG, and some touch up. I am well pleased. SOTD_10-14-2011a.JPG SOTD_10-14-2011b.JPG

Saturday - it's the weekend! :happy069: Time for the SEs!!

Prep: 30 minute marinade with TSD ISZ PSB, hone & strop str8, hot shower
Tunes: Masters of the Blues ~ Volume 1
Coffee: Home roasted, fresh ground Kenya Safari Ridge, BLACK
    Hone: Duro
    Strop: VB 2" Black latigo/linen
Soap: TSD SOTQ B1, Winter Pagoda
Str8: Boker SS St. Louis Steamship, 3 passes
SE: Schick Injector E Model, touch up
Post: Cold water rinse, RazoRock rub down, ice water splash, Brut cologne

    Shave Rating: 5 Blades

A much better shave with this razor this go 'round than the last time I used it. A bit rough last time, so I took it to the hone for 7 laps. After that, I hit the linen with about 50 laps, then the latigo for another 100 or so. Smoothed her right out and I got a much better shave. Glen would be proud! (he honed her up and got her shave ready for me in the first place)

U have me curious. Still learning all of the online places. Right now the objective has become rapira, voshkod, and musko glyce lime from one order. And of course another cream. I am realizing now today was my best shave ever. Tell me more about this cream.

I'm getting that barber chair and I will share. :)

I've been running a little warm and I live where it's hot. So Saturday and Sunday I do chores:chores016: and drink iced to keep cool and chill.
But really I like my coffee like I like my women...bitter;)

    Saturday 15Oct11 my "morning" shave

    Starbucks Italian Roast, Black
    Proraso preshave balm
Gillette Milord, w/ Gillette 7O'Clock Super Platinum Black (D2)
Omega Boar travel brush, face lather
    Godrej menthol mist cream
    Alcolado Glacial-Nivea Sensitive Balm

This was a three pass SAS, not a super shave, but my set up was good. I tried working out the other day and really overdid. I am having trouble bending my left arm to the point that I can not touch my face without using the other hand to force it over. I really goofed. They were laughing at me last night trying to put in my ear plugs, they said it was like watching a turtle try to flip over. Gotta take it a bit slower in the future, my shave has suffered.

Continuing with my famous photos of hotel bathrooms, I would like to include the following entry for your consideration. I like to carry a bunch of blades and pick based on how I feel that week.

Thanx Danny, and oh so agreed. Shower was to Garcia/Grisman, shave was to late 70's JGB.
